Good to know. I'll change that up.

tried the new method and still kicks me back to ES. Does this version supports .pk3 files ? I'm trying with a.wad though, dunno what might be happening, followed the tutorial step by step

It's funny, I decided to give 'Brutal Doom' another try and I'm facing the same problem at this very minute. All I can think is that there's some other way that pk3 files must be launched from the command line. I'm scouring the internet, but most every bit of advice is just to drag the pk3 file onto the ZDoom window, but of course that doesn't apply here. I can't find a reference for the command line usage anywhere.

Edit: The only difference is that I don't get kicked back to Emulation Station. Instead, it always loads the base IWAD and completely ignores the pk3.

@mediamogul I'm trying with an .iwad file though, and i'm having this problem. I replaced the iwad name to the one I have, and also i even changed my iwad to The Darkest hor to just copy and paste stuff but still get back to ES, any clues?

Not at this time. The commands are relatively straight forward. Perhaps the whole ability to run PWADS is broken.

Post the contents of your /dev/shm/runcommand.log and let's see how far it's able to open.

@mahcneto read my last post. also remember, everything is case sensitive.

@mediamogul @mahcneto i should also mention i give 0777 permissions to every single file i add to the doom folder.

I'll try changing the permissions. I've got a question posted to the ZDoom forums about 'Brutal Doom'.

Well, my particular issue was related to how the built-in Mac 'Unarchiver.app' decompressed the original download. I decompressed it through the command line, moved it over to the Pi and it booted right up on the first try. At first blush 'Brutal Doom' appears to be running very well.

@mediamogul are you running the 2.0 version? Im actually having trouble finding the brutal doom download. I was able to get the add-on but on the site i couldnt figure out how to get the game.

Edit: i think i have the correct file. Is the file brutalv20b.pk3?

Yeah, v20 is running very well. I'm finalizing a few things on the setup right now, so I haven't stress tested it, but it seems to scream. Their downloads section is a little confusing. The main download is this one.

Supposedly the 'Metal Soundtrack' is highly recommended. Unfortunately, I have a long day tomorrow and I can't enjoy the fruits of my labor just yet. Oh well, knowing all that carnage is waiting for me will give me something to look forward to.

@mediamogul so is this a mod that if i use it on doom 2 it makes doom 2 better but is still doom 2? if so then i need to make configs for both final dooms and ultimate doom as well correct?

Exactly. Also, I didn't want to set up the free look mouse feature globally in the .ini file, so I added +set freelook 1 to each of the BD launch scripts. Either way should work though.

@mediamogul it sucks that you have to use mouse look. I have my apple iie keyboard configured to make controls easier but using arrow keys on it arent very easy.
