      I am running the newest, (to my knowledge), version of @Zigurana's ES-Kids. But, when selecting restart system/ES or shutdown system, it just exits to the command line and disables the keyboard.

        I don't know about the overall issue, but I think the keyboard one is that the terminal isn't echoing what you type on keyboard. Try to (blindly) enter the reset command to reset the terminal and maybe you'll get the keyboard working fine.
