Cardboard Mini NES + Nes mini and Famicom mini themes
-
@malixx never mind, I did not heard the bleep because of the player on my pi
-
One thing I thought of:
Would it be possible to do a US Dreamcast color scheme? The US Dreamcast had this reddish-orange color as opposed to the blue that you got in Europe.
-
Hey guys. I was playing around with the snes theme and was able to add the kodi icon in the menu (assuming you already followed the howto guide in the wiki). I looked at the NES mini theme and the process was just about the same as the SNES. If anyone wants to add it simply do the following:
- Download the NES theme.
- In the theme's root folder create a folder called KODI.
- Copy the files from another theme (I copied all the files from the auto-lastplayed folder)
- Modify the logos and add the KODI logo (use your favorite graphics editor here)
- Copy the es-theme-nes-mini-master folder to your rpi's theme folder \retropie\configs\all\emulationstation\themes
- Select the theme called es-theme-nes-mini-master
Here are the modified images (if anyone is interested)
-
@livefastcyyoung just open the icon file in photoshop and change the color. save and done.

@kal-el-1981 Thanks but I prefer leaving work on this theme to Ruckage. I don’t expect him to get to everything but I figured I’d offer up the suggestion for the different region Dreamcast.
-
@livefastcyyoung... @ruckage does an AMAZING job on his themes! I love how customizable he's made them for us. I usually try to handle little things like color changes and regional variants of his systems for myself so that he can tackle the important stuff for his themes. That guy's an artist!

It's an easy change so I've added them as optional extras to the theme so they will be available in the next update. I'll do the same for the Snes theme as well with the advantage that they will automatically show if you set the region to USA in that theme. In the meantime here are the updated images if you want to use them. I left the background itself blue as that matches the dreamcast packaging in the USA.

@ruckage Yr the best. :)
-
I was going to ask about that a while back, but I forgot... Thank you.
-
this theme is amazing.. thankyou very much @ruckage ...
i have two sugestions.. some system should get a new background image.. some are simple boring next to others.. like nes and atari.. just plain boring color.. next to master system and mega drive. they look ugly
and the other sugestion whould be a set of borders to use as overlay to match the theme.. it whoukd make the retropie look even better

I need help setting up a custom layout.
I am messing with 4x3setup.xml (for a 4:3 CRT monitor) and I can't get it done like that:
I don't need the "rating/played/player" bar at the bottom of the artwork, I'd like a single "genre" banner instead like in the mockup I made above.
-
Will PSP Minis be added as a separate system?
-
@johnodon He's said a handful of times he had no plans for separating them.

Quick question: Loving the theme, nothing but amazing work. I'm using the NES mini theme, trying to get the SNES logo to the USA type. I found the folder that has the proper files in it, thought I'd be able to edit a config file to make it US type.
Is there something I'm missing to use the purple colored SNES logo vs the JP/EUR one?

Just rename the folder :)

Hi ruckage!
Thanks for your theme it is wonderful.
Is it possible to add background music to the main menu?
Are you going to update this theme?

Just re-name the image files in the folder, currently there is no option to change it from the config file.

There are no built in was to add music but the are ways it can be done, see here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/347/background-music-continued-from-help-support/44
I will update the theme but I've just been busy, I have a few other themes I also work on as well as my own projects and recently have had no time with Christmas coming up.

@matchaman Hey there, I'm trying to do the same thing (rename SNES) and it's not letting me change anything. I'm getting permission denied and all that. I'm trying to find how to fix it all, but I'm losing the thread. Is it easier than I am making it out to be?

You probably don't have permissions, you need to modify files as root.
Here are some basic instructions:

@malixx could you remake your splashscreen with a louder sound? It is awesome as it is but it sounds a little muted on my pi compared to the UI sounds and I want uniformity
