@SonPluck
When was the last time you did an update to ES?
Because it sounds like you need to update. -
-
@Syhles How do you I update emulation station?
EDIT: I'm using retropie 4.0.2, isn't that newest version?
-
@SonPluck Press start and quit emulationstation. At the prompt, type...
sudo ./RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh
Go to "Update RetroPie-Setup script". Let that run.
Go to "Manage packages" -> "Manage core packages" -> "emulationstation" -> "update from binary"
This will update your emulationstation.
Go back to the main menu and perform reboot.

@SonPluck
EmulataionStation can be updated seperately to Retropie as a whole and there have been lots of updates lately. I would advise against updating though if you intend to use this theme as the latest update will probably cause problems with this theme. I will be updating the theme soon though and then you can update ES. -

@Syhles
Yep, I had forgotten - I've closed them now. -
@ruckage
I figured that you had possibly forgotten about them.I spend way too much time on GitHub.

MAME year is missing, can I add myself?
-
-
@ruckage I think he means the year on the icon ("????").
I think it was '97 MAME released?
I presumed it was left at "????" because MAME isnt a console.
-
@DigitalMonkey
You could be right. If that's what he means then yes that is deliberate as there is no set release date for arcades as it covers so many systems. -
Downloaded thru the retropie script, now I tried to change layout but nothing worked,
I tried to overwrite the original - didn't work
I tried to delete the original and change it with a backup - didn't work
I tried to overwrite the whole file without deleting anything - didn't work
Any help? Here is a screeny

@SonPluck /etc/emulationstation/themes/nes-mini/ is a root directory so make sure you are using sudo in your command.
The other thing you could do is edit the file on your computer, move it to a non-root directory and us sudo mv to put it in the /etc/emulationstation/themes/nes-mini directory.

Why do you not add system changing and selection sounds @ruckage ? I think that could work 😀

I would have but EmulationStation doesn't currently support playing sound effects for those events. It currently only supports sounds for the scrolling gamelist and game launching. The ability to be able to play other sounds has been requested I believe and I have all the sound effects ready if that happens.

Hello, is there a way to make the theme only show the game names and no other info? Maybe something that I could change "a la basic" option from themes, thanks & awesome job with the theme!
PS: I specifically mean when i choose for example NDS, the rom list only showing that and no other info.

Not completely sure what you mean.
If you mean you want to show the gamelist alone without any of the metadata (the info displayed either side of the list such as genre, release date, developer, rating etc.) then no, you can't easily remove that.
If you mean that the names in your list show for example:
'Super Mario Bros. 3 (USA) (Rev A)'
and you just want to see:
'Super Mario Bros. 3'
Then that's nothing to do with the theme itself, it's down to the scraped information in your gamelist.xml. You could try scraping from a different source or edit the gamelist.xml yourself using search and replace in something like notepad++ .
-
What I meant was scenario 1, removing metadata and only having the game list visible, thanks.
-
@KneeTie
Then no, it's not possible. The theme is designed specifically as a detailed theme and if you removed everything but the gamelist you would just have a big empty space either side (not sure why you'd want it to look like that).
