Cardboard Mini NES + Nes mini and Famicom mini themes

@lilbud
Hi. I really am very grateful of the donations I've had but I honestly don't expect anything from anyone so no worries.Regarding your mockup, It's nice you felt inspired to make that but as I've said several times previously I want to complete this alone. I have done all the other systems myself and want to do the rest myself as well as I have my own ideas for how I want each system to look.
-
@ruckage Oh, ok
I thought I would try to help out in some way. Good luck with the rest of the theme

It's kind of you and I hope there are no hard feelings. It's just when you've put so much time and effort into something like this you tend to feel a bit possessive over it (you may feel the same about your Switch theme) .

Yeah, I understand what you're talking about. But at least the switch theme is simple, and doesn't require a PhD to add new systems :)

Added video support.
OMG. thank you!!
-
@ruckage this is easily my favorite theme, the only one that comes close is retrorama.
the pixel theme launch art package goes really well with this too!
I'll have to donate to you beer fund when I get paid, or if you ever come to Melbourne Australia, buy you a pint personally :)
Really well done dude, this is some professional grade theming.

When I put this on my RPZ with RetroPie 4.2 the theme just has white boxes, the error is to <title> tag in each XML file yet there obviously is. Any help?

Let me know how you get on with the video support, I was only able to do limited testing on the pi itself but hopefully it should be okay.

Thanks, glad you like the theme :). The pixel theme launch package really is great but stay tuned as I may have something more specific to this theme that I'll be posting about very soon......

Are you using the latest version of EmulationStation? If not the theme won't work.
-
I've made a set of custom launch images for the nes-mini theme. You can download them from Mega: Download
I'll be honest, I've not actually tested them yet but there shouldn't be any reason why they wouldn't work. The only thing I'm not certain about is how retropie scales these images when displaying them - if it adds any kind of filtering then I'll need to redo them to stop them from looking blurred when displayed.
Below are a few examples of how they look.

I am on RetroPie 4.2, which from ES's site says it contains the latest, it also says
unknown property type "selectorHeight" in the terminal after killing ES -

These are awesome!

To do this in Retropie go to the retropie/config menu and select the following:
Retropie Setup
Manage Packages
Manage Core Package
EmulationStation
Update From SourceIt will take a little while to compile but once it's finished you will have the latest version of ES.
Restart the system and the theme should work. -

Thank you so much man! My brother missed out on an NES classic so I'm making him a custom one. This theme is perfect
-
@ruckage Working great for me!
-
@ruckage I know you prefer to do it yourself, but I made a U.S. version for the SNES launch screen (because OCD). Figured I'd share it and make your life a tad easier.
-
These look great, man!
Just tried the lot out on a 4x3 system but the images don't scale... so I'm left with a smaller image surrounded by a black border.
I know you've been working your tail off with this theme, so don't think of this as a request... but more of an addition to your "when you get around to it" list.
I'd like a set of these scaled to NTSC 4x3.
Again, absolutely NO RUSH... I'm using them anyway because they're just too cool... but a full screen version... at some point in the future... would be the icing on the cake!
Thanks again for ALL your work in making this my GO TO theme!

Well spotted, I completely forgot about the alternative version. Once I'd decided on the layout I wrote a program to generate the images for me from the various elements and I just forgot to add the SNES alternative images.

I had feeling that would be the case, providing a 4x3 version is easy enough so I'll do that next. By smaller image I assume you just mean that it has black borders top bottom - is that right?

I've been experimenting with the new carousel theming and I'm thinking of going for something like this.
It will require making each of the system logos individually but I should be able to get them all done in a few days (the hardest part is finding good photos of box art). As these would look odd as logos in the old version of ES I think I should be able to use the 'feature' tag so that these are only used on the new version that supports carousel theming.
First I got to say that your theme looks absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much for creating it.
I really like the pixel art on the system menu, but is there also an alternative available where the system menu has box art as you depicted above? -
DUUUUDE THOSE LAUNCH IMAGES.
