Cannot connect to server
-
I am trying to connect to the pi server using smb://[IP Address] or smb://retropie and I am unable to connect using either of these. I have tried pinging my pi using my mac which also fails (unknown host). I have read through some other related posts but was unable to resolve the issue. Any help is appreciated.

@kemartin191 silly question but best to start there. Is the Pi connected to the network? Try to ping the Mac from the Pi.

I was able to ping my mac... ping IP, returned IP and # bytes of data

@kemartin191 have you been previously able to access samba shares via the Mac?
-
@kemartin191 if you enter
arp -a
on the Mac does the Pi show up? -
No, I have not access samba shares via the mac before. I do have file sharing enabled. arp -a returned the following
Kxxxxxx-Mxxxxxx-MacBook-Pro:~ kxxxxxxxxxxxxx$ arp -a
? (10.xxx.x.x) at f4:3e:9d:3:65:15 on en1 ifscope [ethernet]
? (10.xxx.xxx.xxx) at ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff on en1 ifscope [ethernet]
Kxxxxxx-Mxxxxxx-MacBook-Pro:~ kxxxxxxxxxxxxx$it does not find the Pi
