Retro game stuff talk
-
All of these posts really make me excited about all of the options that are available in regards to retro gaming now and in the future. I have just started to look on sites like eBay and Craigslist to see if I can get my hands on some older systems. I still have my original Game Boy though - does anyone else? I can’t wait to find some hidden gems during my retro searches!
-
Yeah, retro stuff can become an addiction.
Of course we can play all games, even the super expensive ones, on our Raspberry Pi but it doesn't replace the original feel and touch a cartridge and original console setup can give you. And the excitement to hunt down and acquiring those rare gems. And no I didn't buy that Eliminate Down. I am not that crazy. And if I would I'd buy it at a local game shop here which sells it a bit cheaper than that auction.

The rare gems usually go for a shitload, which is why I own none.

While this isn't retro because it was made in 2018, I just picked up this masterpiece today. (DMG for scale)
A few weeks ago my friend posted that her husband was working on this as a side project and I knew that I needed it in my life. It's approximately 24" square, and all of the woods used are their natural colors. No stain.

@obsidianspider Simply breathtaking … :D

Sample box! lol

I made a thing the people on this thread may like. Here’s the writeup.

@flyingtomahawk i wish i could find an arcade buttons store like that. Are those legit sanwa buttons or other brands?

Legit Sanwa and Seimitsu stuff.
I was strolling through Down Town Osaka during lunch time and saw this street full of electronic shops clustered all in one spot and that store was the only one selling all the arcade stuff. I got all excited but i managed to control myself and left the store empty handed. But i know now where to go if i ever should need something for my arcade sticks.I particularly liked that they had sample buttons and sticks displayed to try out. Look at the very bottom in the pics i posted. All Seimitsu and Sanwa sticks lined up for testing. They also sell tons of customize parts like stiffer springs for the sticks, various mounting plates, different ball types and colors and so on...
-
@flyingtomahawk i am soo jealous. The two brand names for buttons and sticks you want for metal arcade panels. And having all the custom springs, plates and stuff. Too awesome.
-
@edmaul69 I got some Sanwa buttons from FocusAttack a few weeks ago and they were pretty inexpensive, but probably not as inexpensive as in Osaka.

FocusAttack
Those are very good prices. No different than over here. I guess they have a retailer deal with Sanwa and Seimitsu. If you are a store you can get wholesale prices from them.

@flyingtomahawk Refresh your browser and my signature should have the updated image you requested ;)

Haha... well done!

@flyingtomahawk @obsidianspider i thought i would show you guys my finally finished famwiicom. i even modified the original controllers to be wii classic controllers with circuit boards from raphnet-tech.
-
Haha! Awesome!
Well done!
Love the controllers. -
@edmaul69 Oh wow! That's awesome. How did you go about modding the Wii controllers? Paint? Custom shells? Were the decals something already available or do you have a source on die cut brushed gold stickers?
-
I love you guys. Crazy stuff like always :D
-
@obsidianspider the brushed gold skin was purchased off of amazon. The black and red was created by swapping parts from black and red wiimotes. The bottom, the sd card door and buttons were taken from a red wii. You can only see a little bit of it from the first pic but on the other side you can see it completely across that the bottom is red. I want to buy a broken black wii so i can put on black rubber feet to replace the red ones. Just another stupid thing for me to try to make it more like the original famicom.

@edmaul69 It's really well done. What are you using for the FDS RAM Adapter? Does it actually do anything?
