@flyingtomahawk i like the look of the japanese one. It looks a lot like the neo candy machine that it is replicating. Personally im glad its not the red u.s. look
-
@obsidianspider i got a sweet collection of ps1 games from somebody once and had to air them out because they all smelled like really strong cat piss.

That looks so tacky, they've reduced a stylish console/arcade machine to a toddler toy.
That was exactly my first thought. Kinda looks like those fake, oversized mobile phone toys for 2-3 years old kids.
I am really glad I have my Pi with your NeoGeo X theme on it. Just wish they would sell a mini AES NeoGeo shell somewhere.
I know the China boys sell the NeoGeo X dock for 50 which is a bit expensive IMO.Well I guess we wait and see then. Wonder how much the price is gonna go up for this NeoGeo mini once sold out.

The seller is a shady mofo, but here is one that was 3D printed on a resin printer.

Any tips for removing a smoke smell?
Its funny how so many of the people who have antique items to sell are also hard core smokers and don't notice how the smell has permeated the item.
Solution,
Take up smoking and soon you won't notice it either.Okay so real solution...
Activated Charcoal. You can get it in the fish section of a pet store. The case and the book can just be buried in it for a day or so when wiped down to get any Charcoal dust off. The cartridge... Maybe seal the end first and then do the same?
Or if you are fine with vacuuming and wiping down the pins with a Qtip you could just do the same thing and bury it in the Activated Charcoal for a day or so.

Today I added a minty SwanCrystal to my collection. The screens on these really are impressive, especially compared to a "regular" WonderSwan or WonderSwan Color. Now I need to pick up more games (as of now I only have four). Sadly, ones that don't require a ton of Japanese are pretty expensive, but oh man, I love the WonderSwan. It's a shame it never made it outside of Japan.
-
@obsidianspider super minty! I really need to add one of these also to my collection. You gonna do a side by side for us for screen comparison?

It's hard to get a photo on these with the way the lighting is in my house, but here you go. Puyo Puyo Tsu stage select screen on
WonderSwan
WonderSwan Color
SwanCrystal
In some cases I can see the SwanCrystal's contrast being a bit too much (some areas are dark), but wow, it's crisp.

Here's the NeoGeo mini in action at e3:
And the TV menu:

I know the China boys sell the NeoGeo X dock for 50 which is a bit expensive IMO.I've seen a few sellers on Aliexpress selling the dock for $39.99 which in my opinion is a good price as the dock is really well made (assuming it's official, I imagine there were a lot of docks left over). The only difficulty is accessing the inside of the lid, it's a bit tricky and you have to be careful not break or scratch the dock .
I've been playing around with adding gridview as an option to the neogeo theme so I'll be updating it soon after I've tested it on the pi:

So I'm down the shore for a week, and I stop in the arcade (don't see many of those nowadays) and there is a new machine. Brand new TMNT game based off of turtles in time, but themed around the 2012 series
-
Here's some footage for anyone who's interested. Two of the later levels are marked as 'Coming Soon'. I wonder if stages are added as downloadable releases through the machine, or if it's just an early model?
-
@mediamogul I think this might be an early model. I only got to play a little with my brother and we got our asses handed to us by Bebop. The game controls beautifully, nice and tight with well timed actions. Really scratches that itch for a new traditional side scrolling beat em up. Kinda feels like a 21st Century Turtles in Time.
Last night, these two guys took over the machine and beat the entire game. Took em about $10 each.
-
Wow, I gotta find one of these near me. I really loved the originals and this looks like a great followup.
-
@mediamogul I think this is the new 'thing' this year for arcades (like that Wizard of Oz coin pusher was a few years ago.)
Not sure of there are any arcades where you are, kind of a dime a dozen nowadays. Maybe a Dave and Buster's would have them.

Does anybody here have an interest in a couple of high quality full metal Philips RCA/S-video to scart adapters, and a multi scart?
The Philips ones actually support s-video to scart (I've noticed soms non branded ones didn't support it).
I don't want anything for it, only the cost to ship them (from the Netherlands). -
Last week I was in Manhattan on a business trip and was able to visit the Nintendo store. It was mainly branded merch and game demos, but they also had some older systems on display and overall it was really cool. I'm glad I went.
Of course I had to pick up a few things for myself.
I also knew there had to be a retro game store in a city like New York and I was not disappointed. Video Games New York was a really cool place with a great staff. I'll definitely check it out again the next time I'm in the area to see what new things they have in stock.
I picked up some cool Mario Hanafuda cards. I don't know how to use them, and I haven't decided if I want to keep them sealed or not, but they're really neat. I knew that's how Nintendo got their start, but I'd never seen Hanafuda cards before and I didn't realize how small they would be.
-
Thats some very nice stuff there, thank you for posting the pictures; very interesting. You lucky guy got some Hanafuda cards. So cool. :-) And this destroyed Game Boy, if modded with a Raspberry Pi would be badass. Wow, I just looked at the picture and realized the text saying it still works! Forget the mod, its badass on its own!!
Edit: The idea to use a bombed Game Boy wasn't my brightest idea ever. It's a sort of disrespecting the casualty and shame on me.
-
@thelostsoul If you want to bomb a Game Boy and then put a Pi in it, have fun, but that particular one isn't getting any Pi from anyone.
-
That Gulf War Game Boy is probably the coolest thing I've ever seen
-
@obsidianspider so awesome man! And hellova find at that retro store too. Those cards are rads!
