Raspberry Pi Zero W with Retropie 4.1.18 not recognizing usb soldered controller.

Power Supply used: standard
RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest): 4.1.18
Built From: (Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website, Berryboot, or on top of existing OS etc.. - please provide the filename of any image used)
USB Devices connected: Soldered USB Controller
Controller used: Cirka usb controller
Error messages received: No Gamepads detected
Emulator: Emulation station
Attachment of config files: default
How to replicate the problem: turn the pi on won't detect controller.

Prior to the Zero W I had this project with a Pi zero inside of a SNES controller and everything was working fine.

I downloaded Retropie 4.1.18 which works with the new Zero W and re-soldered all of my connections to the new Pi and controller

I know they are not perfect at the moment. But I've been redoing them over and over trying to see why the Pi doesn't detect the controller.

Emulation station boots fine but will not detect the controller anymore. As I said before this set up worked for a long time with the Pi Zero and RetroPie 4.1.

Any ideas?

Same here. "Resoldered", tried with rasbian. Nothing helped.

What happens when you enter lsusb at the terminal? Does the controller show up?

If it doesn't, then check your connections.

If it does, the next thing I would try would be running jstest /dev/input/js0 at the terminal to see if Linux is seeing the controller key presses.

Tried. lsusb show only one Linux Foundation 2.0 hub.
(Also in my case I am trying to solder usb hub, which I desoldered from pi zero (not W), not joystick).
That's all, I am out of ideas.

OK, I resoldered usb hub back, and tried otg cable, ZeroW works great, usb hub is not working with both pi. Problem is in usb hub.

@stealeks The Pi Zero is really particular with USB hubs. I tried a few until I found one that worked.
