I always wished I had an arcade machine with real arcade joystick + buttons. Now that I have a 3D printer, I thought I should put it to good use and make myself a desktop arcade machine. Check it out =)

@christan That is incredibly awesome and I am rather jealous.

I have no experience with 3D printed stuff, so I have questions about it's sturdiness. How strong is it? Does it have much flex or give? How well would it take a pounding during Battletoads or some other frustration-inducing game?

I'm also curious how much it weighs. Is it really heavy, or quite light?

@mattrixk It's very strong actually, I printed with PLA, which is stiffer than ABS plastic, plus I added a lot of support structures in the design to make sure the body and the controller has pretty much zero flex. Definitely not a problem taking a pounding :) ... you can see more here: https://hackaday.io/project/20093/logs

It probably weights around 1.5 - 2 kg. I stuck huge pieces of anti-slip foam under the machine to ensure it doesn't move around.

Very nicely done! Makes me wish I had a 3D printer setup to make something cool like that too.

Why not mount the screws for joystick from beneath the CP?
                Would look much cleaner....

                Nice job anyway ;-)

@christan nice build! I just recently decided to try my hand at making a bartop arcade. I'm using base schematics I found here https://retrokadebuild.wordpress.com/ and altering the sides and some other small features. Any advice that you might have for a newbie?
