I just imaged a fresh version of RetroPie 4.2 onto an SD card. It booted fine and I was able to get everything set-up/working, but every time I reboot, it tells me that no gamepads are detected. None of the buttons will work until I unplug the controller. Once I plug it back in and hit the A button, suddenly it is recognized (no need to set anything up).

I am using a generic SNES-style controller, and it is plugged in to a USB hub (Mini Sega Genesis Build). The hardware is exactly the same (RP2b) and the only only thing that has changed is the SD card. This controller was previously recognized flawlessly on my other images using this set-up. It's just the fresh image that is giving me issues. Everything is stock, except I had set up wi-fi and changed the localization to EN-US. Can someone help?

What brand is the controller? This could help.

It's just a generic SNES controller. I have since discovered that if I plug in directly to the Pi, everything functions as normal. It is only when I am plugged into the Sega Genesis Hub that things don't work properly.

It is only with this new image/SD card that I have this issue - it worked flawlessly with my other images that were 4.1 (then upgraded to 4.2).

I think I found my issue. Apparently it make a difference as to which order you plug in the controllers to the USB hub - under normal conditions, I had the far left slot open, the second slot for my keyboard dongle and then the controllers plugged into the 2 ports on the far right.

When I was testing my new image, I had the bottom opened up and the unit was upside down. I plugged everything in the same as before, except in reverse (since it was upside down). As soon as I rearranged the plugs, all worked as usual.
