      Hi there,
I noticed I didnt have the latest version of Kodi, or Retropie.
So I updated both (Retropie first, then I uninstalled kodi and reinstalled)

Prior to this update I had no problems loading into Kodi

Pi Model or other hardware: 3
Power Supply used: Not sure the exact specs, I got it from a canakit.. its working perfectly.
RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest): 4.1
      Built From: Noobs
USB Devices connected: iPazzport mini keyboard reciever
Controller used: iPazzport mini keyboard(Tried both Wired and Wireless) I have also tried using ps3 controller.
Error messages received: Black Screen 4-5 seconds and then back to the port menu.
How to replicate the problem: Happens everytime I click on Kodi

Basically whats happening is, everytime I try to open Kodi, it goes to a black screen, and gets hung up... and then returns me to the port menu.

I did some digging around and see that people had this problem when using a ps3 controller? Im not using a ps3 controller, and ive tried entering kodi using both a Wired and Wireless controller.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Im new to all this so I hope I was able to provide you with enough information!
      Thanks

PS: I followed all the steps in this guide: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/9404/updates-went-wrong/21 I was able to delete Addons27.db, I rebooted, and I still wasn't able to get into Kodi.
So I tried deleting Addons20.db as well. Again, I rebooted, and again Im unable to enter Kodi

@lfeist you can check the install log. I would try installing it again just in case there was a hiccup with the netwotk

@herb_fargus Hi there, thanks for your reply :)
should I try installing Kodi, or Retropie again? Or both?

EDIT: I managed to solve the problem by updating Kernel. I Hope this helps someone in the future!
