What do you mean by full set?
What I mean is if you decide you want to play a game like your X-men, you go off and search the web and find a random site that has roms. You find X-men and download it. It doesn't run. You get upset and confused so you go somewhere else. You download it, it doesn't run. You give up thinking that nothing works. You could get lucky of course but it's unlikely as PiFBA is ancient and is no longer supported or developed. This is a common scenario that causes grief. The ONLY way to use MAME and FBA is to choose an emulator (as you know there are multiple versions of each) then go off and find a full set of roms for that emulator. You can then use the DAT file and CLRMAME to verfiy what you have is indeed the correct set for your emulator of choice. For me though, you do not need to mess about with DAT files and CLRMAME because a search for a "reference set" for a particular set of roms would probably yield some degree of success.
You need to understand about roms and parents, split and merged. It's all in the wiki. If you tldr'd it, you are going to struggle. Arcade emulation is not drag and drop. I wrote this to try and assist people generally. It's a good place to start.

@herb_fargus When I look at the website it says
Pi 1 and Pi Zero mame4all (not lr-mame4all) pi-fbaso I click on the mame4all compatibility list and I get this "Sorry, the file you have requested has been deleted."
FYI this dead link had been corrected on the wiki but the docs need rebuilding - paging @herb_fargus / @BuZz :)
