Emulators not showing up.
-
Hi i would appreciate any help with this. Im new to Retropie and have pretty much no idea what im doing. i have a preinstalled image of retropie on an sd card. I set up the folder system on my usb drive and have made sure the parsegameslist is disabled. I have tried putting roms in the psx and sega folders. I then tried to do it wifi and still when i reboot raspberry pi now emulators show up on the title screen (i get the retropie, kodi and pixel but thats it). Is there anything else i can do to get this to work?

It's pretty straightforward. Works out of the box. In order to help you, you will need to describe in more detail exactly what you did, where you placed files, how you placed them and what they were. If emulators are not showing up, then there are no rom files in the correct folders. Please supply the exact path that you placed your rom files.

/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/megadrive thats where i put the file "Aladdin.md".
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psx is where i put the file "Crash Bandicoot.iso". I also tried putting in a folder called Crash Bandicoot that has a .bin and .cue file in it. Neither of these emulators showed up. I tried using usb first, transferred the usb to raspberry pi then let it load and i restarted the system. That didnt work so i tried WinSCP file transfer. i transferred the files that way and rebooted the system and still nothing. -
@therocksays you need to install lr-pcsx_rearmed in retropie setup for psx to do anything. You might need to install lr-picodrive and lr-genesis-plus-gx for the genesis to work. After installing them you need to restart emulationstation.

Where do i go in retropie set up to do that?

@therocksays go into retropie setup in the retropie menu. Then in there first update retropie-setup. Then when it is done you go into manage packages. Then they are in main packages or optional packages.

Let me suggest that, if you have a separate Kodi menu, you probably edited your emulationstation systems configuration file, and as such you may need to add new systems to that file manually.
If you haven't edited it, though, then it's likely not the case. I'm on my phone, but there are guides for that in the RetroPie docs.

@edmaul69 i installed both packages then rebooted and nothing still.

@therocksays ok. Does a normal genesis game work? I would try that first. Also I would look and see if you have es_systems.cfg in /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/ and see if it has the genesis and sega cd systems listed. You might not have a file there but if you do and they arent in it i would delete that file.

So for some reason after installing and updating everything the parsegameslist was enabled. Disabled it and everything worked. Thanks for the help I hope its all easy from here on out.
