Re: Final Burn Alpha 0.2.97.39 is out!

I am finding that R-Type (World ROM vers) crashes everytime within the first two levels and i note that some other people have reported similar behavior. I was wondering has anyone got R-type working at all in any emulator on RetroPie and if so which ROM was it and which emu? I am super keen to play the arcade version again! :-)

@kingofmetal79 You can try the latest fba 2.97.42 or mame 2003. I haven't tested rtype but rtype leo ran ok in the first level in mame2003.

You could play the PlayStation port of R-Types?

          R-Types
"R-Types is a compilation of R-Type and R-Type II ported pixel-for-pixel from the coin-op to the PlayStation."

          R-Types NTSC-U (PSXdatacenter)

          R-Types PAL (PSXdatacenter)

          R-Types Delta
"Released only on the PlayStation, this is the fourth game in the R-Type series (hence Delta, the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet), and also the first game offering different fighters, with different Force and Wave Cannon combinations for the player to choose from. Set in 2164, Delta is also the first game in the R-Type series rendered in full 3D graphics."

@kingofmetal79 I tried rtype now..I got to level 3 with no crashes in fba 2.97.42. If it matters, I never rebuild my romsets. I download a fresh set.

I just realised that I haven't actually checked to see if my version of FBA i'm running is up to date! Duhhhhh! That is the first thing I will check later....

I can confirm I've been playing it successfully on lr-mame2003, getting to level 3 consistently. No crashes. Have played quite a few times the last few weeks.

Strange as it wont even load in MAME2003 for me, hence resorting to FBA.... Odd... Ill have to check for updates.

@kingofmetal79 Well, that's much more likely to be because you have the wrong romset there.

I'd check the content of /dev/shm/runcommand.log after trying to launch it on MAME. It will likely say you're missing some files there or something.
