Thank you for sharing this! That is the best graphics I have seen on a cabinet! I am completely ganking your idea and side panels! (hope you don't mind) I took your side panels and replaced the pacman grid, then made my own marquee, control, and front panel based off your idea. I had a buddy print them for me on automotive wrap vinyl ( except the marquee is on regular white back vinyl) and then laminate them for me. They came out good, but I don't know how much light the marquee will let through. I am still trying to decide if I want to do something for the screen bezel or just leave it black. I will post a pic of the cabinet when I get it finished.

@hatfield44 Not sure how you're going to get a good print upscaling a 750px wide jpeg with heavy anti aliasing and low jpeg compression... but you do you, man.

I know nothing about graphics, compression, etc... so I just set the image interpolation too "nearest neighbor" and winged it . The side panels still have a small amount of the yellow from the pacman grid that I was too lazy to get rid of so some of the characters "got the glow" like Bruce Leory.

I am sure it is not quite as crisp as what yours turned out to be, but I am happy with how it turned out! . I didn't think it would be legible at first so had a buddy print a test run. Probably didn't help that I also had to warp the back since my cabinet has a vertical back, but the characters pretty well look how I remember when playing them growing up. May be that my vision is worse than when younger as well.

Here is a pic of the actual vinyl.

As a designer and maker of things, i have always had a fascination with arcade cabinets. To take your favorite nostalgic memories and combine them with your own building and technology skills to make something truly unique and cool. It's a large and expensive undertaking which forces you to test your knowledge and learn new skills.

I posted my work here to show the culmination of many months of effort to a crowd of peers that would appreciate my unique build approach. And I am overjoyed at the amount of positive feedback i have received from the community as a whole. Thanks everybody!

I don't mind makers drawing inspiration or appropriating ideas from my work into their own, but i never posted here with intention of having everybody's project look identical to mine. So to answer the queries about sharing my photoshop files, my answer is that i prefer not to.

The fun in this whole endeavor is making something special you can call your own and be proud of. One of the main reasons i'm part of this forum is to see everyone else's awesome work, it'd be boring if everybody was just making the same thing.

I guess my challenge to everbody is to show us your creativity, there are lots of ideas out there that haven't been made yet.

I am more than happy to help anyone with any questions they may have from the artwork, making and technical sides of putting together a cab like this. And if anyone is interested, I can post a tutorial on how to collage pixel perfect artwork and upscale to high resolution with no quality loss if people want to make artwork similar to mine with a cast of your own favorite characters (or levels, or items, or backgrounds).

@capeman i understand you not sharing your print file. Can you please share the asset artwork files? I am a designer and i would not know where to obtain all those files. I am also interested in a tutorial on how to collage pixel perfect artwork and upscaling with no loss in quality. My guess is that they are all vector files.

@Capeman looks like someone may have pinched your design to enter the Xcade competition :) https://www.xcade.co.uk/comp_b19c.html

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. People are the absolute worst!

I sent an email to the website hosting this content pointing out this error. I will post here if they respond negatively.

Good afternoon. It was brought to my attention that somebody has stolen a design that I created made and entered it in your bartop artwork competition.
004 - ROB has taken the design that I created and posted to the Retropie forums almost a year ago and entered it in your contest. As a maker and designer i find this deeply disappointing and I am hoping you will do the right thing and either remove my design from your contest or attribute it properly.
                          See my original post here:
                          https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/4934/pixel-art-themed-bartop-arcade/41
I can provide proof of original creation given i have never shared the original photoshop assets.
Thanks, and i hope to hear from you soon.

Well Xcade is a cool company!

I sent them the email above and they quickly responded by banning the guy who tried to enter the contest using my design. That's pretty rad.

I think I'm going to make a pixel theme art for sharing with the community. I'll post it on a forum thread later on when i get it done.

I just need a high resolution image to be from the bottom to about half what up on the cabinet roughly 40” H x 32”W
