- The previous overclocking I had actually had significant impact to the overall performance. As soon as I slightly dropped them down, many games started to have some lag with DR-option Enabled. So to me, RPi 3 is capable of running PS1 games in full speed without any hiccups, if you are using proper cooling system for the RPi due the heavy overclock you have to do.
no overclock is required to play psx games at full speed on a pi3. a pi2, even. your configuration is not right.
Are you really standing behind your words, that you don't need to overclock RPi 3 in order to run PS1 games in double resolution mode with stable full speed ? I seriosly doubt it.
whoops, didn't see you mentioned enhanced resolution before (stop calling it DR!), but even then. you should ALWAYS have the speedhack option enabled when using the ER mode to get proper performance. the pi3 is fine with ER + ER SH. you can sometimes get away without the speedhack, but not often.
the enhanced resolution + speedhack has too many visual bugs for me to consider it more than a curio. things like doom are a mess with it on. i'd prefer a shader. you certainly shouldn't be using it when contributing to compatibility spreadsheets, but there you go.

I still have a feeling, that you didn't read my message properly or didn't understand what I meant.
And shaders are only good for 8- and 16-bit consoles, since they give awful results on 3D-games of 32-bit consoles.
-
@dd-indeed How's that? The crt shader makes my ps1 games look exactly like I remember them (both 2d and 3d games). I wouldn't want to play them without it.
-
Yeah, well, some people like to play them as they were, I myself get a headache, if I would need to go back to that original look again due being used to modern TV's and image quality.
But anyway, had enough of this offtopic.

Tekken 3 will get slowdowns on an oc'd 1Ghz pi2 without any shaders or Enhanced Resolution. It's the only ps1 game I tried that ran too slow, but I would need to find a list of those higher native res games to verify it is that. I also haven't tested it in over 6months so I would need to re-test for any emulation speedups/fixes (if any) with it.
Found a rough list if anyone wants to test on an oc'd pi2 (or I can if I can remember): http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=54382

If a game runs too fast, should I list the game as 'has issues' or is there an easy fix for this somewhere in the settings?
Command & conquer runs 10-20% fast. -
@bobharris I would consider it a bug
-
Final Fantasy 8 runs smoothly until I enter a battle - then it completely freezes, and I can't recover the game. Anyone have tips for this issue?
I'm running:
Rpi3B
RetroPie 4.2
5V/2.5A power supply
lr-pcsx-rearmed
SCPH-1001 (standard)I've tried pcsx-rearmed with the same issue for FF8. FF7/FF9 don't have that issue whatsoever.

@brickle select + retropad X > options > InuYasha Sengoku Battle Fix > enable
-
@dankcushions That didn't work for me :(. Still freezes upon battle entry, and causes display and audio stuttering as well. Any other guesses?
-
- Medievil = Unable to select between New Game and Load Game on the startup screen and the icons of those are broken.
+1 to that one. Initially, I thought that the cause was a corrupted rom, but after trying 3 different roms (PAL and NTSC), I consider it as an emulation glitch. Gameplay is not affected, so far, at least.
-
And you used Enhanced Resolution when you tested it ?

@aengeon Is there a specific point in the game where this happens? (Tomb raider 2 freezes) I would like to try to replicate it. It has not happened to me so far.
-
@bobharris It seems to just be random, For me it happened once on the first level. Then not again until the offshore rig. The biggest part I had the problem on was in the plane right after you pick up your pistols on the offshore rig level.
-
@aengeon Oke thanks, I will check it out and report in the spreadsheet if it's different for me.
-
@bobharris Is your TR2 game an eboot or is it .cue + .bins? Mine's the .cue + .bin, All of them I've tried have been, so maybe it's just struggling with the 62ish .bin files? idk. Just keep hitting select at random times and see what happens and if you have no trouble out of yours let me know. Having the random freezes has made me want to stop playing this game.
-
@aengeon I've got an eboot. I will, but it may take some time.
Edit: Never mind; I see there is a level skip, so I will skip right to the offshore rig level. -
@aengeon It must be either something in your settings, or a problem with the bin cue format. I am happy to report there are no such issues with my eboot. I can't tell you where I got it from, but you can find it easily.
I hit the select button many times at different positions in the airplane where the pistols are. Used bandaids, saved the game, or just going back to the game..all went fine.
I'm glad as Tomb Raider 2 is my favorite TR so would be a shame if it didn't work properly.Update: I've been able to freeze the game. I left the Pi running with Lara in the airplane. I came back after maybe 15 minutes and the game was frozen. I tried it again and this time the game kept running but froze after hitting select. So for me the game seems to run fine unless I let it run while doing nothing.
-
@bobharris Very odd, So the circumstances in which the game freezes seems to vary. However the outcome remains that it does indeed still freeze randomly. I'll try the eboot and see if I have any better luck with it. Thanks for the input.

@beretta9 is there any trick to get tekken to run right ? I tried and tekken 1 runs slowly. I woudl love to get the tekken series working.
