OpenRCT2 (Rollercoaster Tycoon 2) on RetroPie?
-
Hello,
there is an solution for playing the game "Rollercoaster Tycoon 2" on Linux out there, as long as you own the original game files (which i do).
https://openrct2.org/Does anyone know if a port of this software would be possible in retropie?
I read some posts on the internet, but they were from 2016.
Meanwhile you don´t need wine anymore, so it´s just the gamefiles and an special launcher.Does anyone know something or tried?
Thanks

@HPK-de Marked for sure. I just found the CD in my parents' basement and was wondering what to do with it haha. Hope you answered my question.

@HPK-de haven't really looked at it but I'm guessing will need x server of sorts.

There were some people discussing the possibility here dated back ten months. It's mentioned there that unless the intended Raspberry Pi is running a 32-bit OS, two requirements needed to be met:
- Dropped dependency on vanilla code
- Ported to x86-64
Since that time, the dependence on the original code has been dropped in 0.0.5 (2016-12-27) and RetroPie is already running a 32-bit OS. As stated above, it might still require an x server, but in quick and cursory look, I didn't see a mention that it was a requirement.

Has anyone gotten this game to work on Raspian?
I found this thread and will try it shortly! https://www.reddit.com/r/openrct2/comments/5ostjc/raspbian_build/

I played this on that eltech desktop thing when they had me do a demo trial last year, it actually worked great under that thing. Probably the only thing I tested that did run well.
