I cannot seem to run any PCEngine cd games, the ones i have are in cue/iso format. I have read conflicting information regarding whether they should run in this format or if they need to be in .bin instead.

Can someone definitively let me know if they can be run as cue/iso or not, as that way i can at least work out if that is the problem i am having or if it lies elsewhere, i have no problem with the tg16 cd images i have in cue/bin and ccd/img formats....

      thanks.

@chubsta make sure the cue file is referencing the correct ISO. You can open the CUE with a text editor. I had some where things weren't capitalized the same way and that caused issues. Linux is case-sensitive.

@qbical As it was said by @obsidianspider 9 months ago ...they work fine. There is no guesswork to this. Please read https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/PC-Engine which has a section how to make sure your game will work.

I recently switched to CHD and overall saved around 50% space.

If you look at my post from the other day you will see that I have read that link, extensively. There is not a single mention of an .ISO file. It specifically states ".7z .ccd .chd .cue .pce .zip". I followed every step I did with the .BIN and .CUE files that are working, but the .ISO's are not. Where is the section that talks about .iso in the link you provided?
I checked the name in the .CUE and it is an exact match of my iso file name.
                  FILE "AKUMAJOU_DRACULA_X.ISO" BINARY
I also capp'd ISO just to see if that would help, but it did not. I suspect I am missing a small detail, hence asking here. Did you have any actual suggestions, or just a link?

as luck would have it, I just figured out the issue.

In the .cue file it shows .ISO being in caps, like the .BIN files are. I had to change the .ISO to lower case .iso in the .cue file. Once I did that, I restarted E.S. and it launched.
Oddly, it did not work when I capp'd .ISO on the file name like it did for the .BIN's.

@qbical It doesn't say it supports .iso, that's a mistake on the wiki. I do know for a fact that .iso is supported, so that narrowed it down to be a case-sensitive issue which the wiki does have a section for.

@qbical just so you know. As long as you dont change the name or caps/lowercase of the cue file, you can edit the inside of the cue file and naming of the bin/iso without having to restart emulationstation. The cue file and iso/bin files names dont have to match.
