Audio Samples Path when using arcade folder
-
Hello,
My arcade roms are all located in /roms/arcadeI put the audio samples of fb alpha in /BIOS/fba/samples
How can I tell the core where to look for the samples? I tried looking at the retroarch_core_options.cfg but I don't see an option in there. Also tried retroarch.cfg for the arcade.
Maybe I just don't know what I'm looking for. I would appreciate any help.

@edwardthehuman There is a very important read this first at the top of every page here. You need to read that and then include all of the details about your setup before anyone can offer good advice.

@edwardthehuman what game do you think you should be using samples that aren't? please give the file name and path of the game, and the name and path of the sample. also, are you SURE you're using lr-fbalpha, and not some other emulator?
the sample path is not configurable.

@dankcushions Donpachi uses an audio sample. I have the donpachi.zip in the arcade folder while i have the sample at /BIOS/fba/samples. yes I am using lr-fbalpha.
Based on what I've read here, you can change the path so the core knows where to look for the samples. I have read before that people used to put the samples in the roms folder but they didn't want it to show in emulationstation so they relocate the sample files somewhere and just change the path so the core sees it. Since I have my roms in the arcade folder and not in FBA folder, I was wondering if I should change some configs.

@edwardthehuman you can change where the BIOS (retroarch system directory) folder is, but by default it's in /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS so you shouldn't need to. you can't change the samples directory beyond that - it will always be in retroarch system directory/fba/samples.
by default fba will look in /home/pie/RetroPie/BIOS/fba/samples/ - please give me your full file path and name of the sample zip.
how do you know they're not loading? with donpachi, i believe the samples are just ripped music from the CD of the saturn (?) version, which should sound pretty similar to the emulated music. it does take much longer to load, though.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
