@edwardthehuman you can change where the BIOS (retroarch system directory) folder is, but by default it's in /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS so you shouldn't need to. you can't change the samples directory beyond that - it will always be in retroarch system directory/fba/samples.

by default fba will look in /home/pie/RetroPie/BIOS/fba/samples/ - please give me your full file path and name of the sample zip.

how do you know they're not loading? with donpachi, i believe the samples are just ripped music from the CD of the saturn (?) version, which should sound pretty similar to the emulated music. it does take much longer to load, though.

@alphafox the image uses Emulation Station but you can always Attract Mode and configure it with your hyperspin artwork. The point is that it will be based on a known, working starting point.

@udb23 Nevermind, I figured out the problem.... It is a bad wire or pin on 2START on the IPAC. Here I was thinking the all the 2nd player controls were not working. Figured out opening WINIPAC V2 and notepad++, replacing the button switch (same issue), and then re-assigning a unused pin on the IPAC.

      cheers! :D

@Joshua2005777 The default view in the File Manager (Midnight Commander) should show the user folder. Assuming you are using the SD card to store your files, your ROM files should be located inside the folder Retropie\roms\<System Name>.

This is not an attempt to boast but i got it up and running first time with no issues whatsoever - therefore all the info is there.

May i suggest you specifically target mame 0.78 and download a complete rom set for that, put them in the 'arcade' folder and use lr-mame2003 to run it - that way you should be able to get it up and running very quickly, as others have said the lack of info about your setup means it is hard to help you.
