Updated EmulationStation for Windows
-
@PittStone I have a test build available at the link below. Can you test and verify that it solves the issue for you? Thanks.
-
@jdrassa Awesome, that works. Thanks. The Problem is now, the collections .cfg are not portable. In the .cfg are the full name path's of each game. But if i Use it portable and change the emulationstation to a other Drive or usb stick, the collections not showing anymore. :(
Is there a other Method to change the path's in the .cfg like "%HOME%/.emulationstation/roms/..."? -
@pittstone Currently, you will need to edit the collection .cfg files manually if you are copying them to a different location.
-
@jdrassa O.k. Thanks for the Update. Now i can make Collections. :D
-
Hi I love your work! can you please add a background music support? I think that this is a must have thing on emulation station.
-
@jdrassa -I have a idea. It would be nice, to have a option in the Start Menue to hide all systems without collections. So i have only my collections in the Start Menue if i wish.
-
@goamalo I can not confirm. I like Background music, but only on my pi. On regular Windows 10 Desktop i have Game-Snaps and if i go back to Main Menue i will not have music.
-
@jdrassa It would be almost perfect, but there is still the problem with two systems that no info, images and videosnaps are displayed. Despite proper gamelist. I have the problem with wiiu and Ps2. Some games are displayed with info some not. Strangely, when I copy each game into a folder, at least the folder displays info, pictures and snaps. But not from the game file.
-
@pittstone That might be a scraping problem, how does the gamelist.xml look like for one of such systems ?
-
@mitu i don't think it's a scraping problem. The limitation of the image files is the real problem here. I have also th problem with images over 2gb. Is there a solution to this?
-
I use the Parse Gamelist option to go around the 2gb game limit.
-
@duiz Oh, man. Thats so Simple and solved this Problem. Thanks. Im now Understand what this Option mean.
-
Glad to help! Just remember that you got to turn off that option and restart ES or edit the gamelist xml manually when you want to add new games.
-
Thanks a lot for keeping the Windows Emulationstation alive.
Is it possible to quit a game and return directly to Emulationstation like on the Pi? With Select+Start or something?
I set Select as hotkey but when I press Select+Start the game quits to Retroarch, which I have to quit as well. I use 2.7.4RP on Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit.

I set a hotkey in RetroArch to exit the emulator, and it works just like on a RetroPie, closing RetroArch and dumping me back into EmulationStation.
Is there any better way to get around that 2gb limit for Wii/PS2 games? My gamelist.xml files are pretty messy, and I'd really prefer not to have to go through and redo them all. That being the case, I'll probably just stick with the older version of ES for now.
On a related note, is there any way to run one of those faster scrapers on PC? I'm pretty new to this, just made the jump from a RetroPie back over to PC.

Try Skraper (skraper.net), it's pretty fast and has a lot of options.

@geekcritique I have used "ES Gamelist Generator" for my folders it have .bat files for my Windows Games. It makes a gamelist from anything you have in your folder. I have made a Gamelist for my .pdf and .cbr documents, too. And a system for "ComicRack" to Open my Retro Magazines via Emulationstation.

You are thinking about being able to make the menu can be played online, add friends, create rooms and join. Using the retroarch netplayhttp://www.retroarch.com/index.php?page=netplay
Another thing is possible Music and sound background. For what is good for the job. See aki an example of a wweb in Spain that uses the ES to play online with mame

I have a Problem with the "favorites". If i add games to the favorites and restart ES for Windows, the added or un-added games are not saved. I have tested it with Parse Gamelists "on" and "off". Also Save Metadata on Exit.
Any Idea? Why is not saving the favorites as a gamelistfile in the gamelists folder? -
@pittstone Favorites are not stored in a separate gamelist file, they're just a toggle stored on the ROM's entry in the systems' gamelists. What version of ES are you using and when did you last update it ?
