Hello! i just installed retropie on my raspberry pi and retropie loads up normally and after that it says no gamepads detected. I can't do anything because all 4 usb ports are dead. here are some details of my setup:

Pi Model or other hardware: (raspberry pi 2 B)

Power Supply used: (model: DSM-0530, input 100-240VAC 50/60Hz, output: 5V 3A) i also tested My cellphone's (Nokia 6) adapter which is:
      FCo100, input: AC 100-240V, 50-60Hz, 300mA, Output: DC 5V A2.

      RetroPie Version Used: 4.4

Built From: (Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website, retropie-4.4-rpi2_rpi3.img) installed it with etcher, tried also Win32DiskImager, install worked with both.

USB Devices connected: logitech dual action gamepad, i tried also microsoft xbox 360 wireless gamepad transmitter, Zyxel nwd2105 wlan adapter, some old logitech wireless keyboard transmitter (and keyboard), some chinese wireless keyboard with usb dongle. none of these devices worked.

Controller used: logitech dual action gamepad, microsoft xbox 360 wireless controller

microsd card: SanDisk Ultra microSDHC 32 Gt Class 10, code: SDSQUNB-032G-GN3MN

can i do anything to make usb ports to work? or is my raspberry broken maby?

@culebra You don't want to use a phone charger with a Pi.

Did you try holding down a button on the keyboard and controller?

I assume it's new and you haven't enabled ssh yet?

yeah, tried holding button a on keyboard and controller, and tried other buttons as well on controller, wont work...

this raspberry isn't new, i got this from my friend. i have used OSCM (open source media center). usb ports worked fine.
i think my friend used some much older retropie with this, like many months ago, and it worked also fine.

          how do i enable ssh?

It's detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/docs/SSH/#enable-ssh. Login from your pc to the PI after you enable SSH and run lsusb to see if of the USB devices you have are detected. I'd try to connect them one by one - keyboard first.

ok, i enabled ssh. when i enter that lsusb command, it says:

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMSC9512/9514 Fast Ethernet Adapter
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9514 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMC9514 Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

              still no usb ports work

@culebra Are you using a case for the PI or are you connecting the USB devices directly ? Run dmesg | tail after you insert an USB device and post the output here.

@culebra Looks power related, make sure you use a proper power source - NOT a phone charger. I see you have an actual power adapter, but from a certain review, it doesn't seem to be very reliable and it might not supply the necessary power to your PI.
I'd advice to get a reliable power source - the official one from RPI is good - and re-try.

@culebra Try another power outlet in your home, but slim chance that will fix it.
