I've been experimenting with a different theme for my NeoGeo, this time inspired by the menus on the actual NeoGeo X. I'd actually planned something similar a long while ago but it's only now possible since grid view has been added to ES. The thumbnails will have to be custom made for this theme because of the gloss effect and reflection but I can easily make them as I can batch process the images.

I've not completely finished yet but here is my current mock-up.

@ruckage Looks good but it seems a little gaudy IMHO.

All themes are awesome to everybody's personal taste, but I don't understand why everybody is all hyped up on grid view ? You have the screenshot of the game title, but the actual screenshot of the game + box art together speaks volumes. No disrespect to any creator in any way at all. You folks keep us motivated. Grid view has too much of an NES or SNES theme to it.

@bytethis , the original NeoGeo X just had the view similar to what Ruckage has just made with his theme.

                    I do like both versions.

Personal taste I guess, I like it myself.

Grid view has been wanted in ES for a long while and as a theme creator it's something new and interesting to play with which enables themes that were not possible before so of course I'm hyped about it. There are already loads of themes featuring a text list of games plus screenshot/boxart/video and this isn't going to take those away so I don't understand why it bothers you. This will just enable a wider variety of themes and most themes support multiple views anyway.

I disagree with this being a Nes/Snes thing, grid view in one form or another has been a feature of frontends for years.

I agree with @ruckage , to have more possibilities on theming is a huge positive imo. Look at front-ends like: hyperspin, launchbox, bigbox, pandoras box to name a few. Some of these themes that people like/want from other front ends is now becoming possible to port or have inspiration from with the new features of Retropie. Like ruckage said, you have the option in ES menu to change back and forth with detailed, video, grid etc. so the options are all up to the end-user.
Grid view is going to be a huge update to Retropie, some great themes are going to become available, multi grid, single horizontal grid, vertical grid (imagine the wheel in hyperspin). the possibilities are endless and also not forgetting the other new upcoming features such as md_name in all views, carousel enhancements and more. The devs are doing a fantastic job.

Maybe it would be more comfortable to create a repository in github ... is it possible?

@ruckage I know you have been extremely busy, but is there a chance you could release the Arcade icon for the main screen? Thanks for all youve done and I hope to hear back from you soon.

Is it possible to show a "game-image.png" then the "game-video.mp4" ? I can only seem to get the video preview to play, unlike on your snes mini theme where you can display the game image then a second or two later the video preview plays
