RetroPie and Amazon question
-
Hi i don't know where to go with this but because i was looking up so many things on amazon for the Pi (controllers, cases and SD cards) one thing that showed up on my listing was custom RetroPie SD cards being sold for 15$ and no i have no intentions on buying it but i was wondering isn't it like illegal for selling a RetroPie image installed on a SD Card with pre loaded roms and the company name as well is Raspberry Pi Xtreme and also i have a screen shot from their amazon page cause i don't want to give a direct link to their page
So is it considered illegal of what they are doing because i wanted to try and report this but i just don't know on your end if you would allow something like this and also like to mention that i would never do anything like that cause just a feeling inside of me tells me it is wrong to try and sell something that is free and also the reason why i picked this part of the page is cause i have no idea where to contact about this. -

so yeah, it's illegal. but here's the thing - you can try and report it (and all the other 1000s of retropie preloaded cards/systems on amazon/ebay/etc), but in my experience you won't be able to submit a report for a license breach like this. amazon and co only care about copyright infringement, and even then the only people who could submit that report are the copyright owners (eg, nintendo, sega, or i suppose retropie, if they own the mark in that country)

I keep wondering why companies like Nintendo aren't going after stuff like that, with my only conclusion being that they have either decided it is more cost effective to leave things like that alone as legal fees would exceed any money that would come their way, or they are trying to avoid bad press that would come from a mistake in handling the situation.

Ya there was another one i saw from the same seller it was 70$ for a 128gb card with the same files and the only person that reviewed it said it was like shoved in an envelope with no protection what so ever and the guy even sent the wrong version but also why are people giving people like that money for something you can easily do and really if the person says they don't have a pc or something they can always use a friends system to build up the files.
