Periodic stuttering/freezing with RetroPi4.4 on a Raspberry 3B+ in every game (1-2seconds)
-
Hi there,
I set up a RetroPi 4.4 on a Raspberry 3B+ in the Retroflag Case with the original power supply.
I am using it with the recommended "Safe-Shutdown-Script" and put some NES, SNES, GB, and Mastersystem Games on it.
(32GB Class 10 MicroSD Card)
Internetconnection via WLAN, Rom-transfer via SSH
No overclockingI am using a Xbox360 Wirless Controller and a Wireless Logitech Keyboard.
So on my first try after setting up everything, the screen freezed after 1-2 minutes of playing (compleltey indepented from the game or emulator I chose. To specify this: Only the screen froze, the ingame music was playing and I could jump with Mario i.ex. But I needed to restart the Raspberry in order to make it work again. (and the same thing happend again after 1-2 min)
I started from the beginning and set up everything new once again (wrote the offical image again, set up wireless again etc..) So now, all games can be played, but again indepentend from which game I chose, the picture freezes from time to time. That means that for example Mario jumps - the picture freezes and when the picture is working again - mario already landed, or died. It seems that I can controll Mario (or every other game) during the freezing event, even the music is playing - its just the picture. Again - this happens in every emulator with every game. Tetris on GB - same thing. Sonic on Mastersystem - same thing...
Does anyone have know about this problem? Thank you for your help.
This is my first post - and I swear - I googled this problem and searched the forum quite often. -

Looks like an insufficient power problem - the RPI underclocks itself not having enough power. Take the PI out of the case and do some testing to see if you get the same problems. The NesPI cases are notorious for this kind of problems.
