Cab someone please tell me if there is a size limit on .pbp files. I am running retropie on a raspberry pi 3, I have 2 .pbp files (resident evil) that play fine individually but if I combine them to 1 file (1.2gb) it will not play.

@affleck001 There is no size limit - certainly 1.2Gb files would be ok. The problem is probably how you merged the files, the resulting .pbp is not recognized by the emulator. You should try creating a single .pbp from the original disks or find a .pbp what contains both disks.

@affleck001 if its resident evil 2 then you want the discs separate. There is no swap disc point in the discs. So trying to swap discs 90% of the time it crashes. Final fantasy viii has to have separate discs too.

@edmaul69 Why does Final Fantasy VIII need separate discs, as it has disc swap points?

@bobharris because for some reason it cannot switch from disc 3 to disc 4 in .pbp form. It crashes every time. It is a known issue.

@edmaul69 Ok that's odd. Switching discs when using an .m3u playlist won't give the same problem?

@bobharris no. Im pretty sure its just an issue with .pbp.

@edmaul69 Ok thanks, good to know... otherwise I'd have to make a change to my FFVIII setup.

There is indeed a 32-bit pointer limitation with PBP, so any archive > ~2.1GB will fail to load any content after it (e.g. the last disc in FF8).
