@markwkidd Thanks! These games were created by individuals some time ago... Some of them having lincences in txt file attached... but not all... Also tried to get all the approvals to be downloadable via page/ script.. Need to think now... ;)

@retrobrews Believe me I know from experience that a lot of great homebrew was never released with licenses. Homebrew developers are often not thinking of the long term.

Would you consider some means to make it clear which games have a license? Possible ways to do that would include

        • making a separate text file for the license games which is stored along with th existing files, something like "Gamename - License.txt". this way it would be easy to tell which games have a license and to sort them out.
        • putting the games with licenses into a folder together separate from the unlicensed homebrews

Please just take this as a friendly suggestion -- although it would be much easier to submit the licensed titles to the RA downloader with licenses included :)

          @dankcushions Sorry, didn't realize that site wasn't 100% legit.

System Config: Retropie 4.4 with full desktop, RPi 3B, 256gb SD, 5v 2.1A 5,200 mAH USB battery. EasyMSX controller mounted with Pimoroni Hyperpixel 4 (non touch). Also running 4.6 on a 4gb Pi 4 serving as my primary desktop computer now.

@OneSwitch Awesome! Have you released this game with any specific license?

@markwkidd - this remake is freeware. The author, David Main, gave his blessings for the remake. The art work is okay to use with it so long as no profit is made.

@OneSwitch That is awesome to hear, I wish more developers would give their blessing like that!

I do still wish there were a license with it even if it is a homemade freeware license. In 5 or 10 years if/when atariage is offline, and David Main (who I do not know) is retired to the jungles of Hawaii and unreachable, it would be better if there were a clear license.

I say this from experience -- there is a lot of great homebrew that is already 5-10-15 years old now whose authors are gone and which can't be hosted on any site in the United States, other than by that one institution with a congressional DMCA exemption, due to there being no clear license. :(

@markwkidd I mentioned that site here and got dinged for it, apparently since it is only legit in the U.S. and this is an international forum, it isn't allowed. Makes sense though.

@Cederick That looks great. Going to try that on a real NES, and then the Pi.

@John_RM_70 It's a fun little game for around 30 minutes up to 1h with 2 player support.
The same studio just finished a kickstarter campaign for their new game Micro Mages with 4 player support and a hard mode (coming out soon and not free)

Very nice post. Thanks on the list. I've bought the Sega Collection on Steam looking on a way to use that roms and I'm happy this is the case.

While we are on the subject of legit games, is there a way to play PSX games on the Pi from an actual game disc in a USB CD/DVD drive?

@VictimRLSH Not yet, there's an issue (with a bounty) for this to be implemented in RetroArch - https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/7245.

@mitu That sucks... Is it even possible to play a DVD in the Desktop using a media player?!?

@VictimRLSH you can install Kodi and use it as a media player, without the need to install the desktop. Should be able to play dvds.

@mitu Good, was thinking of using a spare Pi to make my wife a DVD player that will play UK region DVDs. Our actual one died last week. Does a Pi zero have enough CPU for that, or should I use the spare B+ I have?
