Trouble hiding bios (not showing in game list)
-
@mitu it’s currently set to off
-
@mancity So the BIOS file appears in Emulationstation, but it's not on disk ?
-
@mitu it’s in the folder with the games physically and in RetroPie it’s there (and I want to hide it). That parse setting is off so am I right in saying if parse is off it literally just lists every rom and bios that’s there but if I turn parse on it then uses the game list? I did have a look at that setting previously but it reverted all the settings I’d changed! 😂

@mancity What emulator are you using for NeoGeo ? If you're using
lr-fbalpha
, you can move theneogeo.zip
bios file in theBIOS
folder, outside of yourneogeo
folder and it should work. -
@mitu please can you tell me the file location to move the bios to? Sorry :(
-
@mancity I'm confused, how did you install your system ?
-
@mitu it was about a year ago so tbh I have forgotten a lot of it.
-
@mancity Just move the BIOS file in the BIOS folder. If you're using file shares, you should have a
bios
share, similar to theroms
share. -
-
@mancity Try using
/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/fba
. If that doesn't work, you'll have to put it back with the ROMs. -
@mancity Another method that sometimes work is to rename file extension from
zip
toZiP
for BIOS only. This will not work in Windows you need Unix for this. What also can work is to repack the file 7zip und remove7z
and7Z
from config filees_systems.cfg

I use to set bios roms as “hidden” (you can do this in that page containing each file info: name, producer, cover path, year of release, and so on...)
you will still see hidden files in “normal” use, so I switch to kiosk mode (where hidden files are not shown)
when have to do some modification or trick, I easy switch back to “normal” mode by a short controller combo password (default is up up down down left right left right A B) and then when done switch back again to kiosk mode.
this way everything works great, and I am also sure that casual users (friends, or my kids too) can’t mess up with my system (kiosk mode disables almost all configuration switch and options)
