Arcade Controls Not Working Correctly

I sure hope someone can help me. I'm very new to RetroPie, and received it as a gift.
Everything was working great until the other day. I plugged in my X-Box One controller and used Emulation Station to map the buttons. I then launched the Arcade and Ultimate MK3. So far, so good. When I clicked on one of the buttons, however, a cheat screen popped up over the game. I thought that was cool, so I tested out some cheats.After that is when the problem started. From then on, no matter what I did, the right trigger would pull up this menu. For some reason, that went away (seemingly on its own), and now I whenever I press the B button or the left d-pad, I get a toggle on the bottom of the screen that says, "Cheats on/Cheats off" Also, In UMK3, if I press up on the D-Pad, it goes into some type of dev mode for sound.
The cheat toggle happens now on ALL arcade games. But just them. Other game systems do not show this behavior. I have exhaustively gone through the menus and logged into the config files from my Mac. I feel like I'm causing more harm than good, because I don't know what I'm doing.
