MK Fight Stick Won't Work on Retropie

@bluemetal04 Please go over the list in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first and try to answer as best you can. Just specifying the PI model you have without any context it's not helping to find a solution to your problem.

@mitu I'm not sure there's much more I can talk about that would help, but i'll try.
Using the official power supply.
Installed the stand-alone retropie 4.4 image from retropie's website (used etcher to transfer to microSD).
Use a wireless keyboard/mouse combo to set everything up (the ones with the usb adapter, not bluetooth).
When I go to set up the controls for the fight stick, nothing happens, but does work with dualshock 4 and the keyboard.

@bluemetal04 How are you connecting the controller ? Are you using an USB hub or not ? The PI Zero has only a MiniUSB port, so in order to connect more than 1 USB device you'd need an USB hub. Is the Dualshock connected via USB or Bluetooth ?

@mitu Ah yes, forgot to mention that. Everything I used has been directly to USB. I been using a micro-USB to USB adapter, and it works very well. The fight stick only has a USB option. Not using hubs or anything, I been managing to get by without one.
I used the only method I could with only 1 USB input. Using a keyboard to navigate and set stuff up, then I go to configure input, unplugged the keyboard, plugged the fight stick in, and tried to configure it that way, which is how I got the dualshock 4 working (didn't use bluetooth).
Since that didn't work, I did a reset on the user input settings, turned off the pi, plugged in the fightstick, and turned it back on, still didn't work.
Once that didn't work, I re-flashed retropie on the SD card then tried it out (assuming that the issue was retropie itself) and still nothing. -
@bluemetal04 Your problem seems to be that the gamepad is not detected by the OS. You'll need to enable SSH and login to the Pi over the network to do some troubleshooting (since you can't connect both the keyboard and the fight pad).

B: FF=1 7030000 0 0It finally detected it when I pressed a key for the configuration, but once I was at the button mapping screen, the buttons stopped working, it would not let me map the buttons. Is it possible that the fightstick draws too much power? I'm not sure what's going on.

Normally that's one of the causes when using a wrong power brick (and it's one of the reasons we ask this info), but if you're running an official power supply, that would be enough for the PI, though depends on how much power draw does the stick need. Do you have any detailed specs about this fighting stick ?

sudo dmesg -cAdd the fightstick and try to configure it in Emulationstation - it should disconnect. Run
dmesgand paste the output here. The system log (which
dmesgtakes) might give us an indication of what kind of error we're seeing. -

The logs show device gets disconnected repeatedly. Try adding to the
/boot/config.txtfilemax_usb_current=1and reboot, then try to see if you get the same disconnects. Otherwise - try another cable ?

@mitu Looks like I'll have to buy another cable to try. Sucks that it takes mini USBs.

@bluemetal04 Why did you get a Pi Zero ? You want to fit it inside the fightstick box ?

@mitu I got it as a part of a trade. Always wanted to try a pi out, but never got the chance of owning one til now. My original plans was to put it in a arcade 1up cabinet, but its limitations makes me not want to do that. The fight stick was just to simulate a arcade feel until the MK cabinet came out, but the fightstick had to put up a fight.
Now I'm thinking about doing a project for my car. It would be nice to have it hooked up to my stereo. -
Tried another cable anyways, no luck. This is a first for me.
