Scraping no longer working due to old api
-
@naddel81 what version of retropie are you on?
-
4.4.7? the latest commit.
-
@naddel81 and you updated emulation station from binary? When you press start and go to scraper you can't arrow over and change to screenscraper?
-
I updated all internals through retropie-setup script. EmulationStation is now 2.8.x and no there is no screenscraper to choose. only gamesDB in the ES UI.
-
@mitu it appears screenscraper is working properly now. Thanks!
-
@quicksilver where can I choose screenscraper for the internal scraper? I only have gamesDB to select unfortunately.
-
@naddel81 Can you show a screenshot of the scraper settings ? You should be able to push left/right (or
A
) to toggle between them. -
I guess a restart fixed it. the second scraper is now available, but unfortunately he does not find the missing covers just as gamesDB didn't.
for example "metroid 2 - the return of samus" on GB. I cannot add it's cover. even if I search for only "metroid". -
@naddel81 What's the name of the ROM file ?
EDIT: you have the wrong ROM name, it's METROID 2 - RETURN OF SAMUS, there's no the. -
but when I click on INPUT and enter only "metroid", it should show me results. but it doesn't.
-
@naddel81 I'm not sure about the TGDB scraper, but using ScreenScraper will search by the ROM name.
-
@naddel81 said in Scraping no longer working due to old api:
but when I click on INPUT and enter only "metroid", it should show me results. but it doesn't.
it's not as intuitive as a google search. for example if you type pacman, it doesn't come up with ms pacman as a result, just pacman.
-
For the ScreenScraper part, this is not implemented, but I think it would be easy to add. For the TGDB part, I don't know if it's implemented.
-
so "input" scraping is only supported in TGDB and not screenscraper?
-
@quicksilver How do you update from binary? I updated setup script and packages and that didnt seem to work. Thanks!
-
@Greedo777 which version of retropie are you on? I'm not sure if the binaries are still being updated for older versions. Try updating emulation station from source.
-
@quicksilver Tried updating from source although I get a could not install rapidjson-dev package? I have version 4.4.8 of retropie setup script. Thanks!
-
@Greedo777 Please add more info about your system - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. What image did you use to install RetroPie ? Which Raspbian version are you running ?
-
I tried to scrape single games by using "metadata" -> "scrape".
Just read here that there is a second Scraper now chooseable, i was not aware of that and tried it with the default one.Result was on both tries: the Pi freezed.
Something i did never have until now, had to Switch off the power Supply to start again. Will try the second Scraper tomorrow when i am home again.
Just wanted to mention this issue, its not a real bad error for me as i use "Carbon no Meta" and just use the scraper to have the paths of the Images to avoid typing the whole path when i replace the Images against my own ones.My setup is Maximum default as usual: default Retropie image updated to 4.4.8 (all installed packages), no mods, no overclocking, no gimmicks running on a Pi3B+ with genuine Raspberry Power Supply.

@sirhenrythe5th If you're using the TheGamesDB scraper, then it will download and cache a few files first, so ES might seem stuck. Give it a bit of time, it only happens the first time it runs.
