Just finishing my first Bartop :)
-
Already looks really promising, I'm looking forward to the finished thing.
Like @Superman550, I wonder about the buttons. Isn't there too little space to rest your hand on if your fingers lay on the top row of the buttons? It looks like the bottom row of two buttons is where normally the palm of your hand would be resting.
-
@Clyde Not really.
My layout is this:
Y S L
B X R
A HWith the games i've played i didn't find any difficulty. Maybe in a future.
-
@caradebalde Would it be too much to ask for a picture of your hand resting on the controls? Just really curious. π
What are
S
andH
standing for? -
S for select and H for hotkey.
Here you go
-
@caradebalde Thanks. Okay, so your palm isn't resting fully on the panel. That may put a strain on your hand with prolonged playing, but as you said, you'll have to wait and see.
-
@Clyde Ohh didn't think of that.
Anyway i don't spend that much playing. -
So, i was checking on the recalbox manager and i saw that my temperature was about 55 celsius.
Is that okay or should i set a fan? -
I always like a good bartop. I have always wanted to make one. Thanks for updating the photo links. Looking good!
-
@caradebalde The Pi will display a little thermometer at the upper right of the screen when it gets too hot. As long as this doesn't happen, the temperature should be fine.
-
okay, thank you
-
I got the glass and the edgeband.
-
Almost finished :D
I have to wait for the stand now and it will be finished.
-
Just got the stand
-
@caradebalde Looking forward to see it in action.
-
Sorry.
I have to put the stickers on and it's ready
-
Why are the protective papers still on the stickers on the photos? I want to see the stickers! π
About the (plexi?)glass cover β I don't like those and I don't understand why so many people are using them. They make most cabinets look like semipermeable mirrors in anything but a dark room, and even then you may see some remaining light sources behind you. That said, I don't understand why people buy laptops with "glossy" reflective screens either. *shrug*
Just some feedback from my own perspective. Of course, you may design your cab however you like. π

Maybe thatβs not protective paper, just glare from reflections. π
-
Jjajajajaj
I haven't decided if that is how they're going to be sticked so i haven't done it yet (i'm very sloppy, too)About the glass i totally agree with you, but my brother wanted it that way so that's how it is
-
It's done.
I think is finished
What do you think? -

What else could you use instead? I ordered anti reflective plexi glas for my cabinet but still especially on the painted area there are visible reflections if light is coming from behind. I think anti reflective glass like for high quality picture frames could be a litte bit better. But mostly the anti reflective layer also has some disadvantage due to weird color impressions at certain angles.
