      Hello there!

      I'm El Pollo Hermano.

I really love this minicomputer! Although I'm having some trouble trying to run a certain PSX game. Hope you guys can help me!

Pi Model or other hardware: Raspberry Pi 3 B+
Power Supply used: 5V 3A Power Supply Adaptor with switch
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.4.8
Built From: Pre made SD image called retropie-4.4-rpi2_rpi3.img.gz
      USB Devices connected: None
      Controller used: DualShock 4
      Error messages received: None
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant): I think it is not relevant, tell me if it actually is!
      Guide used: None
File: A couple of .BIN images
      Emulator: lr-pcsx-rearmed
Attachment of config files: (PLEASE USE PASTEBIN.COM FOR LARGE LOGS)
How to replicate the problem: I just bought the Raspberry Pi 3 B+ a couple days ago. I'm using it for emulation with a Dualshock 4, playing with it via Bluetooth.

However, something's just not right. I can actually play with any emulator, except PSX. I played Silent Hill - it works. Soul Calibur - it works after switch from standard to analog. However, doesn't matter how much I play with the settings, I cannot get it to work past the Galaga minigame (this is the loading screen).

Do you guys know how to get it to work?

Thank you very much in advance, and sorry for my bad English.

      Cheeeers.

I can get over the screen by killing some of waves in the mini-game, then the game cuts to the intro and then you can start the game.I don't have a PS4 gamepad connected, I just used a regular (SNES style) gamepad. However, the Tekken 1 image I tested has more than a couple of .bin files - it has 28 .bin files actually.
Make sure you have a proper game image and re-try.

The thing is I cannot kill anything because the controller is not responding, I can't move the ship at all.

But you can still shoot and get past the screen.

@mitu I cannot move the ship nor shoot with it.
Once some time has passed, the minigame ends and the intro movie starts, getting to the press start button menu.

But no matter how much I fidget the buttons, it won't work. I can't play. :(

@El-Pollo-Hermano Make sure that in Quick menu in both the Controls menu and the Options menu everything is set to digital control. Your controller won't work if it is set to analog. (This only works in later games that support analog control.)

Excuse me @BobHarris (hi there!), where is exactly the digital control setting?
I just set the Pad 1 Type to 'standard' and nothing yet.

                  Thank you for your help!!

@El-Pollo-Hermano Hi :) If you're in the game, press the Hotkey button and X. This opens the Retroarch menu. Then go to Quick menu and to Controls. Device type should only say: Retropad. In Quickmenu you can also select Options. I'm not at home so I can't see how it is called, but I think it should say Standard, so that seems to be ok in your setup.

I confirm this works for me. The mini game starts, says Now Loading, then this turns to Press Start to start Tekken. Pressing start just starts the game. Check your ROM/Disc dump, as I said in my previous post I have more than a couple of .bin files besides the .cue file and the game is ok.

Hmm, this is weird! I mean, I can actually use the controller inside the RetroArch menu, but not in-game. I'm using the same dump as metoo, mewtwo or something like that..! But the results are the same.

Uh... maybe... could it be because I messed up something with the rom settings? After all, the DualShock 4 Controller DOES work with Soul Edge! Is there a way to go and reset the settings back to default? Can I also change the PSX emulator so I can compare both results, see if that does fix the issue?

@El-Pollo-Hermano Did you follow my steps? Does it only say Retropad? If it says Retropad + analog or something like that, then that's the problem.

Right after starting the game you can press a button. This brings you to the runcommand menu. In this menu you can choose the other emulator. This is a standalone emulator so you don't have access to the Retroarch menu..everything works a little bit different.

So, I haven't had any luck.
User 1 Device Type is set to 'Retropie', while User 1 Analog to Digital Type is set to 'none'. Input 1 is set to 'standard'.
Hm, I don't get it. It should work...
I also remembered I don't have any other emulator either so I'll have to stick with this one.

Sorry, I'm giving you guys a really bad headache ^^"

@El-Pollo-Hermano Sorry I dont know what is causing your problem.
Always make backups so you can fall back on it when you run into problems.
You could install the standalone playstation emulator pcsxrearmed from the optional packages (in emulationstation go to the Retropie logo and choose Retropie setup; manage packages; manage optional packages).
Or just stick to Tekken 2 and 3 which are both superior to Tekken 1. ;)

Ok I'll check it out! I'll install it from PuTTY and see if there's any improvement.

I can always reinstall everything and keep going with a clean installation, that should do it as well.

                                  Thank you for your help!
