Hi folks. Apologies if this has been answered, but I've spent the last couple of hours searching the forum, and I couldn't find an answer.

I'm working with a new install of Retropie 4.4 on a Pi 3B+ using the official Stretch-based image, and updated via the retropie setup script to 4.4.11. I'm trying to follow Floob's video

to install overlays for arcade games. I'm using the automated rp-video-manager tool to first install the necessary files, and then to install the Arcade-Bezels overlay set.

I'm running into a weird issue for roms that do not have an overlay config (e.g.: 1942). When I launch these games they are displayed with whatever the last overlay was used. For example, if I play Bubble Bobble, I correctly see Bubble Bobble's overlay. If i then play 1942, I see Bubble Bobble's overlay, instead of no overlay at all.

Is rp-video-manager known to work properly with RetroPie 4.4? Or are there additional manual steps I need to take to make this work? Or has the process changed completely with the newer version of RetroPie?

As always, much appreciated for any and all help.

Looks like you've enabled 'Save Configuration on Exit' in RetroArch and the last ROM configuration is automatically saved.

@mitu hmmm... doesn't seem to be it. I made sure "Save Configuration on Exit" is set to off for both the global retroarch config file and for the Mame 2003 override file, and I'm still experiencing this problem.

I'm guessing the script is out of date, given that it was last updated in 2016. I'm going to try manually adding overlays just for the handful of games i'm using to see if the problem goes away.

@mitu My mistake! You were right! The config was set to true in the retroarch.cfg file in the /opt/retropie/configs/arcade directory.
