I tried to install Retropie on my Ubuntu 16.04 laptop and am facing an issue while installing EmulationStation. The error I'm getting is "could not successfully install EmulationStation - Frontend used by Retropie for launching emulators (home/user/Retropie-Setup/tmp/build/emulationstation/ resources not found)". I checked a couple threads of people suffering from the same problem, And the issue in most cases is a memory related one. I have enough memory (roughly 70+GB) to install the retropie system, But the build still fails for me. Does anyone know why this issue seems to be occuring? The exact log for the issue is as follows:

      = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

It's not a memory issue, 16.04 is not supported anymore as an install target by the ES scriptmodule.

@mitu Is there any way to overcome this issue? I don't want to upgrade my Ubuntu version just to resolve this issue.

@PIHACKER Modify the scriptmodule and change the source branch from 2.7.6 to stable.

@mitu Thanks a lot for the quick response. I am trying to locate the script module for ES and am not able to locate it. Can you share the location of the file?

The install script for Emulationstation is in $HOME/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary/emulationstation.sh.

I found the file, But there is no mention of the source branch version in the file. (https://pastebin.com/N0PfQ18s)

There is only one shell script in the supplementary directory called inputconfiguration.sh. There does not seem to be any other script file. I apologize for being too naive about this, Its my first time setting up the retropie

I got another issue while trying to run the retropie_setup script. The error that I am getting is the same as the error mentioned in this thread (https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/21175/went-back-to-stable-es-branch-from-dev-trying-to-use-internal-scraper-now-results-in-crash-also-cannot-install-dev-from-source-anymore). Is there any solution for this in the new releases?

@PIHACKER Your distro is missing the rapidjson-dev package, the reason why this version is not installing on 16.04. Try this workaround.
