No music in lr-prboom
-
Hello,
for the past months I try to create a nice retro library with my Raspberry Pi. I finally got to the point where I wanted to play some Doom and the only Source Port that worked for my controller was lr-prboom. But it seems that it can not play the music directly from the WAD files so you have to find the soundtrack in mp3 format and copy it to the ports folder. After some digging I found the music for Doom 1 & 2 online and it works perfectly.
Now the only issue that is left for me is to get the music running from some Doom Mods. I tried "Batman Doom" which was also mentioned in the tutorial and I got it running but without any music. After doing some research I found a way to extract the audio from the batman.wad via Slade and convert the midi files via an online converter into mp3. I also removed the "d_" in the filenames and copied it into the folder but this brought me no sucess. The music is still not playing and this drives me a little bit crazy. Does someone have expierences with lr-prboom and running Doom mods?

@Finalzero you should try zdoom. Works fine without extracting music

@edmaul69
Hi edmaul,thanks for the respond but I have troubles getting my PS3 controller to work with zdoom. I can't navigate through the menu at all with my controller and some buttons like automap doesen`t work ingame. I find it way easier to just configure it in Retroarch.

I don't know about mods. But I know for Doom 1 and 2 you need the mp3s titled to the level they are to play for.
That's all the input I can say at the moment. Only messed with mods a little and never worried about music. Was just trying to get them working

@Finalzero I've fixed controller support in ZDoom. Just download my release:
https://github.com/protocultor/zdoom/releases/tag/2.8.12
...and unzip its contents in
/opt/retropie/ports/zdoom/
. Backup the original files if you want, but you can reinstall them from RetroPie Setup.
More info here. -
Use Protocultors solution for getting controller support in ZDoom or use Xboxdrv and configure ZDoom source port to see your controller as an xbox 360 controller that has mappings to keyboard buttons.

More info here.Hello, thanks for the update. I´m now able to navigate through the menu and open it when Im ingame. The only issue thats left is that I have to use R3 and L3 when I want to confirm something or go back in the menu. It is possible somehow to bind these to the X and CIRCLE button of my PS3 controller?

@Finalzero it's done:

Never used a DualShock 3 with ZDoom before, it's a troublesome controller :P
The directional pad is recognized as buttons, and all inputs in the controller change ID between wired and wireless. So, I couldn't make the D-pad work with the game, unlike other controllers where the d-pad is recognized as a POV/hat switch.
Although you probably already done this, I recommend you to use a keyboard when configuring the axes of the controller for the first time. -
@Protocultor Awesome, now it's working! Thanks.
But I notice that the mouse cursor on the top left corner won't dissapear is there an option somewhere to toggle it off or on as well? -

It shouldn't be appearing in the first place, its a SDL video "feature". See how it doesn't dissappear even when changing cursor style in the game options.
I'll see what I can do in the next weeks but I don't promise anything. -
@Protocultor Its just a minor issue Im very glad that this game is playable now with the PS3 controller and mod support :)
-
@Finalzero I did it :)
Note that the cursor will always be visible when in a menu. -
@Finalzero if you always see a mouse cursor you need to go into mouse settings and change it to system mouse cursor or something. When it is set to have the icon cursor that looks like the icon on the main menu of whatever game you are playing it always has the system cursor showing.

@Protocultor
Protocultor for President :D
Thank you very much, it works. Now the only thing left I need to know is, can you change the deadzone amount of the left analog stick somewhere? I know you can change it in the option for ingame movements but it doesen't apply for the menu navigation and when I move up and down it often register a left or right movement and messing up my settings.UPDATE: Nevermind I found the settings in the config folder inside zdoom.ini
