Controller is only detected if plugged into official pi keyboard and not with micro USB adapter
-
Pi0 on RetroPie, latest release, fresh install. Plug keyboard into adapter, and controller into keyboard, it works. Plug controller directly into adapter, no go. Would this rule out power supply? Anything I can troubleshoot before looking into different USB adapter?
-
@greengrounds Try looking into the
dmesg
output after plugging the controller.
Can you give more details about your system - as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first ? What controller/adapter are you using ? -
@mitu I’m using a Sony classic controller from the ps classic
Edit: I’m using a standard micro USB to USB c adapter that came with the kit, and that’s also what I use to connect the official raspberry keyboard to
-
@greengrounds i think you mean usb a, not usb c. Anywhoo, there is a possibility the adapter isnt making a good connection with the psx controller. I would try a more standard adapter. Also without a hub the pi0’s can be wonky with controllers.
-
@edmaul69 okay, ya because it works perfectly with the official keyboard as a hub. Any advice on looking for a cheap hub? I want to make this RetroPie for an elderly person and it has to be plug and play, and I can’t lend them my keyboard :p
-
@greengrounds you can use one of these. Plug the micro usb into the inside micro usb on the pi. Not the one marked as power.
-
@edmaul69 thanks
-
@greengrounds but yeah put the power supply into that hub. Then the power supply is giving power to the controller and the pi.
