Controls stop working when i start playstation games
-
when i start playing playstation games i get to the main menu and then my control stop functioning, i can navigate the menu, but I cannot select anything, also the hotkey for exiting the game stops working as well.
-
some games aren't compatible with analog,
set
Quick Menu >> Options >> Pad 1 Type >> Standard -
i cant open that menu
-
@Shadowkiller324
I'm sorry, so you meant that you can navigate the menu in game titlescreen?
if you have a keyboard pressing f1 should open the menu in lr-pcsx, otherwise escape opens the menu for pcsx.have you run the input config from the emulationstation menu for that controller?
the combination to open the menu in retroarch is
Hotkey_button + X (or Δ if Playstation controller) -
@Shadowkiller324 Please add more info about your set-up, as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

Pi model: Pi 3 B+
2.5a powersupply
Version 4.4
got the build from the website
Keyboard, and Controller
Xbox One controller -
i have gotten the buttons to work but now i cant use in the game menu's because my analog sticks i believe are not compatible with the game but i can not bind the directional buttons for some reason
-
@Shadowkiller324
when opening the retroarch menu it is initially in the quickmenu of the game (listing resume, save state, load state, close content, options, shaders, etc.) the setting that you want for the analog to standard is in the options of this quick menu. Similar to the screenshot above, change Pad 1 type from dualshock or analog to standard or negcon -
it does seem to change anything, i tried both ways and didnt do anything different
-
@Shadowkiller324
I see, try configuring the input again from emulationstation sometimes the things stick and skip the input. were you able to map the directional buttons in this config? -
in the emulation station i could map all buttons no problem in fact in every other emulator i run into 0 problem (besides the psp crashing) just this one
-
i dont know if this is relevant, but when binding buttons if my thumb is even touching the left stick it binds it immediatly to x00, but ive never ran into this issue if not touching the left stick
-
@Shadowkiller324
Yeah sometimes that will skip the input when binding, but as long as you get it bound right it is not a problem.In retroarch again.
try resetting this to analog and then resume and set to standard again.
quick menu >> options >> pad 1 type
quickmenu >> controls
you could try Retropad w/ Analog and analog to digital but I think this would be a false positive, maybe the analog would work mapped this way however.
and you should see below this the bindings there should be one for the dpad if so then this is well.back out and get to the settings list.
settings >> input >> User 1 Binds
there should be setting:
User 1 Device Index = "Xbox 360 controller"
(or name of your controller)
careful not to bump this off as then the input will need to come from a different source (keyboard)
and you could try
User 1 Bind Default All
Finally once checking to see that everything was okay.
try resetting the pad 1 type again. -
@Shadowkiller324 Did you install the
xboxdrv
from the RetroPie-Setup script ? You don't need it for your gamepad to function, if you install it you should remove the driver.
When you start RetroArch, there's a brief message about detected controllers at the bottom left part of the screen - how many controllers are detected by RetroArch ? -
@mitu it detects my xbox controller
-
I am currently installing the xbxdrv
-
@Shadowkiller324 Did you read my other reply ? You don't need this driver. Did you perform any other configuration on your system - like re-assigning the controllers using the Configuration Editor ?
-
I didn't do anything in the config editor. The only thin i did previously was just download the game and attempt to bind the buttons, as of right now all buttons are working besides digital pad and analog stick binding. If i choose not to bind the sticks with a fresh install of the psx emulator they seem to work fine but binding them messes it up
-
@Shadowkiller324 Did you follow @Efriim's advice ? Some games don't like analog controls, you need to disable them in the PAD options from the RGUI.
-
Another thing id like to point out is that my menu does not look like that its alot more basic and can only be opened using the escape key on a keyboard
