I see, try configuring the input again from emulationstation sometimes the things stick and skip the input. were you able to map the directional buttons in this config?

i dont know if this is relevant, but when binding buttons if my thumb is even touching the left stick it binds it immediatly to x00, but ive never ran into this issue if not touching the left stick

Yeah sometimes that will skip the input when binding, but as long as you get it bound right it is not a problem.

              In retroarch again.
try resetting this to analog and then resume and set to standard again.
quick menu >> options >> pad 1 type

              quickmenu >> controls
you could try Retropad w/ Analog and analog to digital but I think this would be a false positive, maybe the analog would work mapped this way however.
and you should see below this the bindings there should be one for the dpad if so then this is well.

back out and get to the settings list.
              settings >> input >> User 1 Binds
              there should be setting:
User 1 Device Index = "Xbox 360 controller" (or name of your controller)
careful not to bump this off as then the input will need to come from a different source (keyboard)
              and you could try
              User 1 Bind Default All

Finally once checking to see that everything was okay.
try resetting the pad 1 type again.

@Shadowkiller324 Did you install the xboxdrv from the RetroPie-Setup script ? You don't need it for your gamepad to function, if you install it you should remove the driver.
When you start RetroArch, there's a brief message about detected controllers at the bottom left part of the screen - how many controllers are detected by RetroArch ?

@Shadowkiller324 Did you read my other reply ? You don't need this driver. Did you perform any other configuration on your system - like re-assigning the controllers using the Configuration Editor ?

I didn't do anything in the config editor. The only thin i did previously was just download the game and attempt to bind the buttons, as of right now all buttons are working besides digital pad and analog stick binding. If i choose not to bind the sticks with a fresh install of the psx emulator they seem to work fine but binding them messes it up

@Shadowkiller324 Did you follow @Efriim's advice ? Some games don't like analog controls, you need to disable them in the PAD options from the RGUI.

@Shadowkiller324 You're not using the lr-pcsx_rearmed emulator, but pcsx_rearmed (which is only recomended for PI0/1 nowadays).
Use the Runcommand launch menu and choose lr-pcsx_rearmed as default emulator for PS1 games and then you'll be able to access the menu from the posted screenshot and make your modifications (if needed with the new emulator).

lr-pcsx_rearmed is much recommended. I have never gotten analog to work in the other pcsxr.
you should update the retropie setup scripts and then update
                                      core packages >> retroarch
                                      main packages >> lr-pcsxr
and then try to solve why it is crashing, maybe run the lr-pcsx with logs enabled via the run-command, I think the logs will be gunzipped in the /dev/shm folder
                                      gzip -d "log.file.gz"

Though the dpad should work unless it is mapped as an axis for xbox controllers, did you notice if it assigned an axis# with the input config on dpad?
The xboxdrv is sort of advanced to use ( I couldn't figure it out ) but there are guides if you search for them, and if it interrupts the controller input then just disable or uninstall it.

I apologize I assumed you would be using lr-pcsx from the beginning, but didn't gather this information until now.

@Shadowkiller324 Then choose Verbose Logging from the Runcommand launch menu when you run your game with lr-pcsx_rearmed, wait for the emulator to exit (as you described), then get the log file /dev/shm/runcommand.log from the Pi and upload it to pastebin.com to see what's the error that's preventing the emulator from working.
