Only some N64 roms showing up
-
Hello everyone,
I'm using a Raspberry Pi 3 with Retropie. I have a collection of 298 N64 roms but when I start Retropie, It only shows 150 N64 roms. With other roms (like nes, snes, etc) I don't have this problem, only with N64. I reinstalled Retropie already, but this doesn't change a thing. Btw, I'm using an USB-stick.
Any idea how to solve this?Thanx.

@Stoffel007 If you brows to the
\\retropie\roms\n64
folder, do you see the whole 298 ROMs or just 150 ? Do they all have the right extension ? -
@Stoffel007
By retropie default the es_systems.cfg for emulationstation will only recognize file extensions .v64 .z64 .n64 and .zip in the roms/n64 folder.
So renaming any that are .rom to .z64 will work. Or making a copy of the es_system.cfg and adding .rom to the N64 scheme.
cp /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/
nano /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg

All the roms are in the \n64 folder and all of them have the extension .v64 or .z64. That makes no difference, Emulation Station shows up the first 150 roms alphabetically, no matter if it is .v64 or .z64.

Is there any way to add the name of the roms in a file so retropie shows them anyway?

Yes, but I don't see the point - you won't be able to run the game if the file doesn't exist on the disc.

@mitu
I don't think I understand. The files are on the usb-stick, so they do exist. Or what do you mean with disc? -
@Stoffel007
Is "Parse Gamelist only" enabled in Emulationstation start-menu/other settings? -
No "Parse Gamelist only" is disabled. I thought that was ok?
-
@Stoffel007
That is okay. If it was enabled, it could have explained why the gamelist didn't reflect the directory contents. -

If the files are there with the right extension - and you don' t have the Parse Gamelists Only option toggled - then Emulationstation should be able to show them.
Please add more info about your system - as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. Post also the Emulationstation log file, from\\retropie\configs\all\emulationstation\es_log.txt
, to pastebin.com. -
Okay,
I think I found the solution. There were a couple of roms without "[!]" in the name. Because I was trying anything I could think of, I deleted those files and now everything is fine. Emulation shows every N64 rom now.
Sorry for asking your help. Thank you for thinking with me for finding a solution.Best regard to all of you!
