FBNeo DATs - no clones, only working & Neo Geo only

FinalBurn Neo v0.2.97.44
Thanks! That is useful but i notice on FBNEO page that romset changes constantly so this DAT should be tagged with a date.

Bummer! It's from 5 days ago when it was brand new, aka 3rd of July, 2019. It should be fine with the .so core that comes with 4.5.
In case something changes, I'm sticking to that core. Removing clones cannot be done properly by MAME tools such as ROMLister, it's only possible to be done manually with Notepad++ via regular expressions.
It's a bit of a pain because several clones run better than parents, I had to keep those manually, as well as removing garbage such as cassette titles that take 5 minutes to load. And homebrew and demoscene... who wants those outside archivists? :/
However I'm completely open to fix whatever's not right within the given version, which is the "official" v0.2.97.44.

No, it's just using an arbitrary commit, and actually if it's using a commit from 3rd of July, it would be really worrying (there was a major bug i fixed the next day)

Can you explain ? I think those tools are written for that very purpose.

Actually i added driver status to the dats a few days ago because of this, see https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/22557/arcade-rom-sorting-help-needed-to-get-1g1r/16

@matchaman Make this list with Arcade Manager.
That way, the user just continues to download the full DAT, uses it to verify their ROMs, then uses the list you made with Arcade Manager in Arcade Manager.
Contents of each ZIP may change, but each ZIP's name doesn't change nearly as often.

just registered to say thank you for this.
I'm brand spanking new to arcade emulation - and I have a completionist, but perfectionist OCD compulsion. its suited me just fine for all conventional emulation thus far (some more than others) but Arcade is an ENTIRELY different beast.
Ive been trying to take a .44 set and turn it into
A) Arcade only
B) no homebrew/demo/bootleg
C) no foreign games (as far as non english/not released in the states)Its been an exercise in futility. Ive spun my wheels from dawn till dusk yesterday, copying, pasting, backing up, eviscerating, and rebuilding a set over and over trying to get it right.
This has at least gotten me closer. Probably as close as i'll ever get. All that worries me now is the way that apparently, romlists still update on games from decades ago.
I dont mind missing out on new games that have support added nearly as much as i'd mind a game no longer working due to some kinda structural change.
I put a huge amount of work into my emulation setup and I actually want to enjoy it. AKA set it and forget it. By the time i get this right, I dont want to have to revisit it again - but with arcade emulation, it seems like you dont have a choice. (in my limited knowledge of it)
anyhow, im carrying on. Thank you again for the time it took to weed/thin it out at least a little. It was better than I could manage with the conventional dats.
-
@klepp0906 you have a choice - just don’t update the emulator :)
-
@dankcushions LOL, but fbneo is sooo good. I guess your right though. Thats really my only option.
-
@matchaman hello really helpful, the set change from 5960 roms to 1946.
Do you think you can make a « ARCADE Parent Only NO NEOGEO » (without NEOGEO roms) ?
Thanks

A bit of necro, so apologies.
I've been trying to use the dat file on my non merged set of roms with clrmame to remove the clones. If I scan my rom set what I get is a bunch of "wrong name" results, instead of "not needed". Am I doing something wrong? Am I using the right tool? I'm not 100% sure how to handle this use case. Thanks in advance.

Reply to myself and anyone that would experience my same issue. I was scanning a split collection, not a non merged one. You first need to convert it to non merged (google is your friend) and then scan the resulting output. After merging my romset using the dat files provided by @matchaman everything ended in a happy ending.

Thank you very much for creating these .dat files. I've been researching for days on how to assemble and filter a romset by removing the clone roms but the information is scarse and sparse. I downloaded an FBNeo romset with thousands of roms but hundreds of games are variations. Honestly, who wants a romset full of clone games with stupid modifications? The only thing that would be missing here is a tutorial on how to use this .dat file. I used it with Clrmame following other tutorials and i believe i managed to do it correctly. The .dat file "fbneo-noclones" resulted in 1946 games, including NeoGeo games. I hope you can keep these .dat files up to date for future new FBNeo romsets. I know this topic is old but it deserves to be highlighted, it should be fixed.

Hi guys
I know this is an old topic but does anyone still have the no clone dats for fbneo? The original link isn't working.
Cheers
-
Fixed with a few old cores as a bonus :)
-
Thanks mate 😊
-
@matchaman Thank you for the work! I matched all the neogeo roms from the full dat and the neogeo dat, finding a difference of 1 rom (158 vs 159)...but i realized that was only the bios file "neocdz"! Thank you very much!

Does this work with the newly released (November 2020) FB Neo v1.0.0.0 (Torrentzipped Split) romset???

This post is deleted! -
@dankcushions Well a little bit up the OP said he had updated it back in April this year?
-
This is what i got using the No Clone Arcade Only dat.
Does that look about right?
I have a total of 1946 games in the folder
