Anyway to set Mame 'TAB' key to a hotkey?

Hi all,
I am running MAME 2003 and i would like to assign the mame options key (TAB) to Select+Y. Does anyone know how to do this? I am using a XinMo controller board and i guess the hotkey buttons aren't actual keys? So if i try to map the button in mame i press select and y but it just picks select.
I looked around but couldnt seem to find the question answered.

I think you can use L+R triggers to open the MAME 2003 menu - works for me using a gamepad.

@mitu I'm using arcade buttons (6) with a XinMo control board, so I don't have triggers set. It's not a big issue, it would just be nice to have. Is there no way to edit one of the config files?

OK i got this working. The trick is to press both buttons at the same time in mame control options. So now i can press select & y (at the same time) to get the mame options open.

That was my idea from the beginning, it is the same way i mapped "select" + "start" to exit advancemane the same way i do with all the lr-emulators.

There was no hint in your question that you dont press them at the same time ;)However: it works now, great! ;)

@sirhenrythe5th I think its because select & x does the retroarch menu so i was expecting it to be the same for the mame menu, but its not. No matter it works now!
