Help with My Raspberry Pi 4
-
@mat yes the emulators for those systems work fine on the pi 4
-
Can someone post the instructions for how to install the weekly builds? TIA.
-
@MAnderson The weekly images are listed here: https://files.retropie.org.uk/images/weekly/
Just download the one you want to try out and flash it to your SD card like you normally would

Hopefully, the last questions, is it wise to reinstall to the newest weekly build when they are released, or can I update the same way as I do now through the update script?
How well does LR-mame2010 run on RP4? I wouldn't mind moving on from 2003 since that is all I used on RPi3.

You can update normally, no need to re-install the image.

Should be better, but I don't use it that much so my experience is limited.

Thanks, and I was reading the thread over on reddit and some mentioned USB firmware/rom service? Is this something I need to do? My RP4 is when it was first released, so no firmware updates have been done to it.
-
You may be referring to the rpi-eeprom update service. This is now part of the default OS and it runs at boot to check if an update to the boot EEPROM or the USB controller firmware is needed, downloading and preparing the update on the next restart.
As long as you update the OS normally, this is installed and configured automatically. -
I never updated the OS on RP3, but I did run "update all installed packages" every now and then so from the reddit thread, I guess that would update the OS too?

@djchewmacca Is it just donwloading the most recent build and following the normal process? Thanks
-
@djchewmacca Are there change logs or release notes for the weekly builds so we can see the changes from one to the next?
-
@wmcclelion they are automated but all code changes are on GitHub. Please use this forum for reporting issues first though.
