I'm running RetroPie fork of EmulationStation on Arch Linux. I have installed latest ES from AUR.

Theme appears to be a default/broken/missing. I'm unable to tell which ROM is currently selected.

I've attempted adding themes but it's not working. Yet, I'm quite sure everything is configured correctly.

Run EmulationStation with --debug and post the log on pastebin.com. Where did you get the themes ? Have you tried the default (Carbon) theme from https://github.com/RetroPie/es-theme-carbon ?

@mitu I used themes from an AUR package that refers to this site as upstream.

Here's the debug output but there doesn't seem to be anything relevant.

Strangely, the theme you suggested seems to work well, although it gives some errors in the debug.

So I guess my problem is solved as the Carbon theme works. But it's still unclear why none of the themes I've found myself don't work.

The RetroPie fork has a lot of differences to the upstream from where the themes are downloaded. I guess they're incompatible - something to report to the package maintainer maybe.
You can find a list of compatible theme with the RetroPie fork here, listed by Github user and repository.

I tried to apply some of the themes from the list you linked and they don't work either. Same result as on the first screenshots I posted.

The Carbon theme kind of does apply but now breaks when opening a system:

I guess there's just something wrong with the package on AUR and I need to find some other way of installing the ES. Thanks for your help!
