I've successfully set up my analog flight stick to play Afterburner 2 on Mame2003. My problem now is that I don't have speed control.

I have both a trackball and spinner on my control panel. What I was thinking was that I could somehow configure the spinner to be the analog Z-axis and then use if for the throttle control.

When I test the controls in /dev/input/ the spinner is mouse0.

I would like to ensure that the configuration is only for this game/emulator and I don't want to mess up Arkanoid or Tempest, which only works in Mame4All.

Does anyone know if there is something that I can modify in the Retroarch.cfg file, or in the game setting for this?

    Thanks in advance.

You can chose a RetroArch based emulator for that specific rom (Afterburner 2) and you can also create a per-game config - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#hardcoded-configurations.
