Tell us the output from running..

      cat /dev/shm/runcommand.log

      ..from the terminal.

Could be your XRES or YRES parameters being set to zero or null, but we're only guessing if we don't have the log available.

@rejesterd. Hi, thanks. I get the following.

I had a similiar issue with Looney Tunes Space Race. In Flycast the game just shut down. Then I tried it with redream and the game loaded normaly. After that I tried with a different rom and everything worked OK (also in Flycast). Maybe you shoud try to find another rom from different site. Also try to run it with different emulator like redream.

I can play the game fine in Lr-Flycast in 1024x768 at full speed. It is only when the widescreen cheats are used it crashes. Of course the short answer is that I don't play it with the widescreen cheats on. But it looks so damn pretty in widescreen.

Soulclaibur also looks great with this setup and plays fine.

            Currently running:
Retropie 4.8.9 on a Pi Zero 2W (Overclock Settings: CPU 1400Mhz)
            ES-DE on a GMKtec K6 (Windows 11, 32GB RAM)

@George-Spiggott I would add this to the flycast issue tracker on github. Seems like a bug, and not something you can work around by changing some settings.

Sorry for misunderstanding...fast mistake reading :) Just tried Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver on latest lr-Flycast...and it plays without issue on full screen 1024x960 (16:9) with widescreen hack ... before reporting a bug first try to recompile flycast by source and then try again...

@WODAK Just to be clear I'm having the problem with the widescreen cheats not the widescreen hacks.

Where do I post on github? I'm happy to repost there.

How do you load the cheat vs. activating the hack ?

@mitu both are just an on/off switch in the retroarch options. When a game loads a yellow widesceen cheats activated message pops up on screen.

Try using a .gdi image for the game, I know flycast is not recommending using .cdi files for quite some time.

My image is a .CDI. I tried turning on both hacks and cheats. No change, it still crashed when I enter the spiral tunnel at the start of the game.

                                  quoted from Flycast github:

When it comes to emulation, CDI is not mandatory so I avoid it at all costs

Agree, cdi's are not the best way to go. You don't really know what got stripped out or compressed to get the image to fit on a 700mb CD.

Changing to a .GDI image seems to have fixed this.

                                      Thanks

.GDI images have several associated files. Is there a neater wa y to store them?

                                        @George-Spiggott Run..

                                        sudo apt-get install mame-tools

Then you can package the GDI (and its associated files) with chdman. For example..

chdman createcd --input MVC2.gdi --output MVC2.chd

The .chd can then be placed in roms/dreamcast/, and you can delete the GDI and the other files.

You can also download chdman here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-ElaPpvBHs5aUd0QUM3c05kY2c/view?usp=sharing

If you would rather run it from a Windows PC. Just place the .exe and .bat file into the same folder as the game files and double click the .bat file.

I converted the file but the converted .CHD file (not the original .GDI) resets back to the retropie menu when I load the game.

The .CHD file works fine on my PC with Lr-Flycast.

I pulled this from the runcommand.log
