[HELP] After Retropie Update I cannot login
-
After updating it became required to login.
I know the user name is pi and password is raspberry.
It doesnt work as it says that the login is incorrect.
I know the layout of the keyboard is changed to the uk one so I typed raspberry in the username to check that I type it correctly.
I didnt use this raspberry for a long time but I knwo that the password and username are the same as I used them yesterday to connect to my raspberry via wifi.
I know there was a similar thread I read it and it was useless please do not link it in comments.
Please help :( -
This is detailed in the Troubleshooting FAQ here.
If the
pi
/raspberry
user/pass don't work, then maybe you've changed it at some point ? RetroPie's PI image uses the default Raspbian credentials. -
@mitu well even though I cant login on my raspberry. It still connect to to wifi meaning I can connect to it with \RETROPIE.
with the username being pi and password being raspberry.
Which means they are still the default ones am I correct?
I might have an idea how to do this which is to connect to retropie via ssh and remove the auto login option but to do that I need the retropie's IP adress but I cant get it as I cant login ... any idea?? -
@Retroboii You can check out the IP address from the RetroPie system, in EmulationStation - it's one of the entries there.
-
@mitu well I cant do that as I cant get past the login .. I still get login incorrect. Do have an idea of what I should do been researching for almost wo hours :(

Oh yeah, forgot that. But why do you need the IP - just use
retropie
as the hostname when starting the SSH session. Or maybe visit your WiFi router's administration page to see what devices are connected to it. -
because I saw a youtube tutorial telling you to do so.
How do I connect to it without IP exactly?
The tutorial said to use putty and input the Ip adress which Im still looking for and then putting in your login and password. -

@mitu I need to first enabkle SSH it says there are 2 ways either by
re-boot. From a system with an SD-card reader, access the /boot/ directory and create an empty file called ssh.
they dont say what type of file it needs to be (txt, DTB ?)or by using sudo raspconfig but I cant login so it wont be possible
This is the correct directory rigt and what type should the file be
image url)

How about no type ? You can create a file with no extension or you can add a
.txt
extension to the file (ssh.txt
).
