I'm trying to build a system with the smallest practical SD card capacity, and I'm wondering if there is an in-game FPS performance hit by using CHD images. I don't mind if it simply takes longer to load. The consoles would be Dreamcast, playstation, PC Engine.

    Thank you!

Hello, there is no gain in fps, just save space on sdcard.

@jul059 I don't notice any appreciable extra loading time using .chd files. I use them for all systems that support them.

the only disadvantage of CHDs and PBPs (PSX) is that you cannot use them with retro-achievements, the required information is not hashable with these compressed file formats
Because of that i changed back to CUE/BIN, but if you dont go for Cheevos there is no other issue or advantage by using CHD/PBP.
