      @mitu said in Where's the FPS option?:

      I think it's been moved - in version 1.9.0 - somewhere under Settings -> User Interface -> Appearance ? I usually just add fps_show = true in the global retroarch.cfg file to have it present.

      I found a hotkey bind for it actually thanks for both tips also!

      on a hint of another user on the forum i did a test a few weeks ago of
      ...

      Thanks for the info and cmds! I'll start doing some tests after I get my retropie image backed up.

      @Crush said in What tests to use to make sure an overclock is sustainable?:

      @TheBattleMaster I justed added the SEGA Naomi system to my retropie and figured you'd like to know that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 runs perfectly smooth on that.

      Neat! Time to check some on some setup tutorials for Naomi system :D

      @warchant RetroPie on the RPI is designed to run from the console. Not under X. Don't use xinit.

      Thanks for providing the log file. I don't notice anything different between the 2 runs, so it's not something related to a configuration.
      Try removing pulseaudio completely then reboot the system, this might get rid of any PA interference.

      Actually, it did work but instead of adding these lines I uncommented the same in the config file and just changed the values. Thank you very much for you fast and adequate response.

      There is no fps slider or setting, like in every system. You could control the fps with syncing to monitors refresh rate, that would be the way. If 60 Hz is not possible, it jumps down to 30 Hz, which leads to (hopefully stable) 30 fps. There should be a V-Sync option, which does exactly that, but I don't know more about it. And jumping from 60 Hz to 30 Hz and back is never smooth, so its should stay at 30 Hz / Fps. Maybe there is somewhere a setting for it.

      Besides this, if you have some speed and sound issues, look here:
      https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Speed-Issues/
      and
      https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Sound-Issues/

      So, basically reduce resolution and some other settings. Maybe your pi is over heating and slowing down. And maybe you want overclocking, but only if you have a cooler. For audio, maybe change audio_driver=sdl (default is alsa). I had this issue too and I think this is what I did too to solve this.

      @dankcushions
      Good point! I was planning to just pick a representative game or two for each system and play them for the first level or so. Maybe repat a few times per game to minimize the effect of random hiccups and player actions.

      @starfry said in Can I limit the frame rate of MAME emulation?:

      here is a list of games that I've tried in MAME and found to play fast:

      dkong.zip galaga.zip mrdo.zip pacman.zip invaders.zip phoenix.zip scramble.zip

      we have a compatibility sheet which doesn't seem to detail any issues with these games: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SHspjyHavY9-PKbO2swDr52BS2Wl_mB_Vjx2Z1SXiD8/edit#gid=828747670

      my only guess is that you have a keyboard or some other device that is pressing F10, which apparently toggles the throttle: see readme at https://github.com/RetroPie/mame4all-pi

      @joshbgosh10592 the script is just the one that runs mupen64plus in retropie -you're already using it :) i was just showing how it forces the show fps stuff, if you're running GLideN64. i can't see how you'd avoid it.

      The fps counter is a obscure fix for depth issues if framebuffer emulation is enabled.

      FB emulation is enabled by default.

      Could you recommend a good & cheap HDMI Touchscreen which works for RetroPie?
      from 3.5inch up to 5inch would be nice (with Case).

      Thanks in advance!"

      @Xyb0t said in Performance boos due to lower resolution??:

      @dankcushions Well, i understand that scaling might not mean a lot, but rendering i guess will take it's toll??

      they're the same thing. you can't 'render' a NES game in a higher resolution than 240x224 (or whatever it is natively). a higher render resolution just means it's scaled to that by the GPU. same with psx, etc.

      (with shaders it becomes different)

      How can i test for myself? Is there some form of on-screen FPS counter that i can switch on?

      select + x to get to the RGUI. settings > video > show fps counter.

      @windale
      I recently played through Robocop using lr-fbalpha (0.175 romset) and I didn't notice any speed issues (but I'm not sure if I would noticed 57.4 vs 60 on that particular game). I am interested to see if anyone knows how to change the refresh rate in Mame2003.
